You're the new head coach and you're bringing a guy who Physically assaulted a female. YOU BETTER F'N MEET HIM and tell everyone you have and that you have had several conversations on what is expected

I feel incredibly pessimistic about Tennessee football now. Just don't think Butch is going to get it done and don't think we have the leadership or the "all hands on deck" approach necessary to be relevant again in the near future. Depressing.

Did you see the whole quote? The school has done their homework on Johnson. Him going to FAU was in the works before Kiffin was hired

Yes and as the head coach, Lane has to do his own due diligence.
He can not leave that in the hands of other people

In fact, he's giving himself an out by saying that. It's a preemptive strike. If the kid ****s up, lane will say "I told you I never met him"

That article. FAU sold their soul....

Kiffin hires Kendall Briles, and it sounds like Art may be there in some capacity. Then, he signs Johnson. There is no way I would touch Kiffin as a coaching candidate. Wonder what will happen to FAU in 3 years?

Exactly. You're acting like that's a bad thing for Lane. The school made the decision on Johnson before Lane was hired, he's just letting it be known.

Sometimes I wonder if UT will ever return to the level of greatness I witnessed when I was growing up. Just seems like there's a dark cloud surrounding everything on the hill. 98 seems so long ago.

😂 me and you see this from different perspectives.

Lane doing what's best for lane is Exactly what has gotten him to where he is. From coaching the raiders, to Tennessee, to USC to now FAU. Downwardly Mobile 😂

Crazy how it's been a 180 since this time last year. I'll feel better if we get Blackburn. He's not a loyalist to Butch and he will make a change next year if needed. I think the worst thing would be if Butch goes a mediocre 7-5 ish next year and is retained again. JMO of course.

I knew when the announcement was delayed for AD that spelled trouble. Tennessee is truly disfunction junction, and I do not see Blackburn being hired now. And the longer it goes on the more it hurts Butch and lord knows, he needs help now. Who does Gibbs think gets hired now? Surely not Gilbert?! Who is heading up this search? Are they waiting until Davenport comes in February? By then we will be far behind other schools as usual. Good grief this university makes me want to scream. Leadership is so desperately needed!!!

I agree 100%!

I'm still amazed Ed O got the job. LSU's loss to Florida should have been the end for him - they had no business losing that game, especially when you know how many players Florida was missing and you saw what Alabama did to Florida several weeks later...
