Good win tonight by Mostella & crew.
Loved seeing him call off the screen with the game winding down and drain that shot with his man all over him.
Time to roll up the sleeves and get to work on that SEC slate.
My comment about narrative was not directed at you, nor our class. It was directed at the guy who tweeted that. He corrected the number from 44 to 88, and said his point was still made. Frankly, I think the correction does a lot of damage to his point.
I am sorry, but I don't get this. If Amari thought CBJ snubbed his dad or was not really interested, and decided to not play for him over it, why would he decommit from USC, where is dad is OC, and go to Clemson instead?
I don't think it damages it all that much. We are talking pro bowlers here, the elite of the elite. 42% of the very best football players on the planet for this year were 3 stars.
That's not how it happened. CBJ wanted to hire his buddy Azzanni but felt pressured to interview someone with Tennessee ties. So he made a token outreach to Tee, who wasn't looking to make a move. Tee flew in to hear what his alma mater had to say, but CBJ made an offer that he knew Tee wouldn't find appealing. SC immediately trumped UT's offer and CBJ wouldn't match it, even though he had the budget. CBJ wanted to hire Azzanni while getting credit from the fanbase for offering Tee.
As for the "paid vacation"-- Tee paid his family's way. UT didn't send anyone to meet them at the airport or provide transportation. They were left to wander around on their own and weren't even allowed access to some of the facilities. It was ill-advised all around.
Check it out with LWS. He's always quoted as a trustworthy source, so see what he has to say about it.

Wow, didn't realize Butch low-balled... that was stupid. Now he is obviously paying for it... interesting, thanks for the clarification .
Honestly, it's hard to beat Butch up for this one. He wanted his own guy, and he deserved that leeway, especially early in his tenure. A lot is said about Shoop not being as effective because he didn't have his own guys under him. Well, you can't have it both ways.
By the way, not really directed at you. Yours was just the most available post to quote.
IDT anyone is disagreeing-- CBJ had every right to hire his own guy. My only exception is-- why create a situation when you don't have to? Why reach out to a former UT player-- a well-known one-- when you want to hire your buddy from CMU? CBJ is the one who promised in his intro presser to hire UT people for his staff... then proceeded not to do it. That and the whole "Best Staff in America" promise created expectations that he put on himself. Blowback was inevitable.
Down from 84 percent. That's a compelling number, 42, to me, is not nearly as much so, especially considering that the much higher number of 3 stars.
Regardless, it's professional football v. college football, and it's certainly not a perfect progression. Especially when at least a handful of the three star and lower players are older, and it had to have been easier for players to fall through the recruiting cracks even just ten years ago.
And by the way, there's nothing to say that there aren't many excellent 3 star players. It's just proven out over time that it is difficult to near impossible to win championships without a significant number of 4 and 5 star players, especially in the SEC.
Maybe he decided he didn't want to play for his dad or maybe he didn't want to move that far away from his mom and sister and live in South Central LA. Maybe he didn't really like SC all that much or maybe he thought there would be coaching changes, which at the time seemed likely. Dabo has an enticing recruiting pitch about competing for national championships and developing WRs for the NFL. It has a limited shelf life, but it's working for him right now.
