No AD hire till February according to Jimmy Hyams

Lol. Yes it is. it very much so is. You're right, it's not 10 years ago, and 1.2 isn't that big of a deal today.

It's fossils like you and the ones you've learned under that keeps Tennessee in the Stone Age, preventing us from competing with the big boys and settling for 9-4, considering that success.

This... Everbody says, well, if we let this or so so coach go, who are we gonna get? I've said from day 1, just open the check book, you'd be surprised at who comes knocking if you offer big money.. When you offer dollar General prices, welp.. You see what we have.

I think you're the one who is misunderstanding. Calling DeerPark a "fossil" because he's not in favor of gross money mismanagement is a bit asinine.

It's not an unwillingness to sign top flight people and pay them, it's simply trying to do it in a way that's not going to back the university into a corner on a bad contract with no leverage. That's simply not how this works. I'm just a fan, and I'm not going to pretend to know the finer details and inner workings, but common sense and paying attention will lead you to the same conclusion.

Again, put yourself in the shoes of both parties and revisit your opinions on the matter.

That's your opinion but I can assure you, yours is just like mine...not worth much to anyone else.

I do know the administration is very pleased that:
1) CBJ took over a disaster in the academic performance of the team and that has improved tremendously
2) Very pleased with the community involvement of the team and community leadership they represent
3) understand that he took over a complete mess on the field and respect the job he has done rebuilding

You are on Pluto if you think he's in danger at 8-4 Buster.

8-4, another 'life championship', yea with this administration Butch will be safe....

He shouldn't be though.. That's just my worthless opinion...

Jimbo's new deal starts out with 44 million dollar buyout. If that is what UT fans would like to see, they can forget it. Never see UT constructing a contract with that kind of buyout attached to it..

if that is what you mean by opening the checkbook, then it ain't happening here.

Been there, done that. Sorry you also live in the Stone Age. Enjoy 9-4

I wouldn't want them to construct a buyout like that.. Thats nuts.. But I think you get the gist of what I'm saying.

His contract is $44 million. His buyout is $5 mil. LOL that people look to you for "inside info"

Also, let's be clear. If the AD/Channcelor situation had been stable this year, and I was the AD, I would have fired Butch this year if I had booster buy in.

I still think there is a possibility he can win big here, but when you start talking huge staff overhauls, it's a sign of a larger problem. Guys leave for promotions, other jobs, etc, but that's not the secenrio we are potentially facing here. This approach almost never works, and you're just prolonging the inventiable.

This type of move simply wasn't a reality at UT at this time with unstable leadership. Butch might go against the odds and actually pull this maneuver off. It's not impossible, I just view it as improbable.

So, no, I will not enjoy 9-4, but neither will I call for or condone half ass behavior from the AD.

UT is consistently behind the curve in terms of coaching salaries since CPF left. Until UT gets serious about winning in football again nothing will change. I am not anti CBJ he has done a decent job. It isn't his fault he was offered the job. He has worked very hard

No. Starting in January, Jimbo will be owed 44.4 million if fired without cause. Reading is fundamental.

No, it starts decreasing beginning in January. The idea of it taking over 44 million to hire him is that he'll only leave to get a raise. Reading really is fundamental.

To me, if the new ADI s not brought on until february that means Butch is either very safe or already considered fired in the next two years.

They are basically allowing nothing to change and taking 2018 for whatever happens.

I gotta agree though.

This school is poorly run on all accounts and 1.3 million is just not that much money anymore.
