Lol. Yes it is. it very much so is. You're right, it's not 10 years ago, and 1.2 isn't that big of a deal today.
It's fossils like you and the ones you've learned under that keeps Tennessee in the Stone Age, preventing us from competing with the big boys and settling for 9-4, considering that success.

That's your opinion but I can assure you, yours is just like mine...not worth much to anyone else.
I do know the administration is very pleased that:
1) CBJ took over a disaster in the academic performance of the team and that has improved tremendously
2) Very pleased with the community involvement of the team and community leadership they represent
3) understand that he took over a complete mess on the field and respect the job he has done rebuilding
You are on Pluto if you think he's in danger at 8-4 Buster.
This... Everbody says, well, if we let this or so so coach go, who are we gonna get? I've said from day 1, just open the check book, you'd be surprised at who comes knocking if you offer big money.. When you offer dollar General prices, welp.. You see what we have.
I think you're the one who is misunderstanding. Calling DeerPark a "fossil" because he's not in favor of gross money mismanagement is a bit asinine.
It's not an unwillingness to sign top flight people and pay them, it's simply trying to do it in a way that's not going to back the university into a corner on a bad contract with no leverage. That's simply not how this works. I'm just a fan, and I'm not going to pretend to know the finer details and inner workings, but common sense and paying attention will lead you to the same conclusion.
Again, put yourself in the shoes of both parties and revisit your opinions on the matter.
Jimbo's new deal starts out with 44 million dollar buyout. If that is what UT fans would like to see, they can forget it. Never see UT constructing a contract with that kind of buyout attached to it..
if that is what you mean by opening the checkbook, then it ain't happening here.

Been there, done that. Sorry you also live in the Stone Age. Enjoy 9-4
