No AD hire till February according to Jimmy Hyams

So, Blackburn is the obvious choice here on this board.

Let Hart and Davenport meet for a cup of coffee and see if they agree. If so, announce their agreement to the world. Then, Butch can get on with a normal hiring process.

If not, don't let anyone know that they disagree . . . except for a few dozen insiders on here.

Got another star today. I'm much too old to be a 4-star recruit, so I'll settle for being a 4-star corporal.

All this just goes to the fact that it is never a done deal until the parties meet, agree and contracts are signed.

Folks assume:

- Their AD choice and the Chancellor will be on the same page and thus this process will be smooth with no negotiating required.
- Their AD choice is the best out there and if others do apply and interview they will not rise above.
- The Chancellor agrees timing is critical. She may not feel that way and may feel there is time to take time to get the right hire. She may also feel that she can work with the current AD if there are decisions required prior to a new AD being named.

Depending upon who you believe, this will be done as soon as next week or next year in the February time frame.

Truth is unless one is a true insider - they, like me, don't have a clue.

So everyone just needs to chill, enjoy the holidays, and get their butts up to Nashville next week to support Team 120 against Nebraska! We all have no say in this matter anyway.

a person to work the second shift at the Pilot station. The board has to meet and there is no meeting till January. Come'on people........

What is this board that you speak of not meeting until January? My understanding is that this will be Ms. Davenports call with input from some other groups but no board. I do not know NOTHING!

Why does Davenport need to agree with Hart on anything regarding the next AD hire?

Congrats! :hi:

Well, If Jimmy Hyams said it......it must be the gospel..........what a goofball......I honest believe he has no insider information......its all speculation.......and in his case......its a shot in the dark with blindfolds on.

Well, I will take Hyams speculations over any of the KNS opinions any day of the week.

Sorry you misunderstood. No matter how high profile the coordinator is, being able to say bye bye to him isn't that complicated nor financially difficult.

10 years ago? Sure. But today? This is so in accurate I don't even know where to start.

IF and that is a big if, Tennessee is in the market for a new offensive coordinator, you are looking at someone that will get a three-year contract, probably for in excess of $1.2 million. That's not small potatoes, nor is it a simple contract to negotiate.

Oh goodness here we go again! Tennessee makes me scratch my head on common sense things. Somebody needs to clean house there bad.

With Davenport confirmed, I am sure she wants to appear that she is not going to rubber stamp decisions make early in her tenure. I don’t think I blame her for that. She will have to live with her decision for a few years and I want it to be the correct one. A wait of 6 weeks will not be a problem, especially when 4 of those will be when most people will not be working because of the holidays.

I think bad decisions were made to let him ride out his tenure, then retire, instead of just firing him.

What would be the grounds for firing?
The fact that VN does not like him is not a valid reason.

Even if there were grounds for dismissal, why fire and deal with payment of a separation pkg when the mutual arrangement of retirement is more beneficial for all parties?

IMO, an orderly search and transition plan relative to the June departure date would have been fine. Unforeseen losses to SC and Vandy added a sense of panic for the masses and frustration at CBJ for the powerbrokers. Loss to Vandy has caused problems/issues at many levels and right/wrong it is on the head coach.

If you don't think 6-6 gets Butch fired, you might want to bow out of this discussion. 9-3 puts the new AD in a tough spot, 8-4 is the 50/50 line next year.

That's your opinion but I can assure you, yours is just like mine...not worth much to anyone else.

I do know the administration is very pleased that:
1) CBJ took over a disaster in the academic performance of the team and that has improved tremendously
2) Very pleased with the community involvement of the team and community leadership they represent
3) understand that he took over a complete mess on the field and respect the job he has done rebuilding

You are on Pluto if you think he's in danger at 8-4 Buster.

It's my understanding that Cheek's term or whatever, is over in March. So, the new President would start in February and transition into March. Obviously, an AD wouldn't be hired until then. I don't think they would make any major coaching moves until an AD is hired, short of Jones making some staff changes. Davenport was confirmed last week by the Board. I think it's just a painfully slow process. But Hyams likes to put his Big Orange spin on it IMO.

Lol. Yes it is. it very much so is. You're right, it's not 10 years ago, and 1.2 isn't that big of a deal today.

It's fossils like you and the ones you've learned under that keeps Tennessee in the Stone Age, preventing us from competing with the big boys and settling for 9-4, considering that success.

I think Hart has been on the chopping block a very long time. DP or Larry said he has tried and failed the last two years to get his contract extended.
