Hyams has tweeted that UT will not hire an AD till February. Beverly Davenport will make the decision without using a search firm.

If true then Davenort needs to be fired because clearly things aren't getting better.
This would also mean that Tennessee doesent get Blackburn either.

It's honestly no suprise Tennessee is where it's at with this administration. I understand conducting a thorough search, even though Blackburn seems like the easy, logical choice. But delaying it until February is a joke. I hope he is wrong. He's been wrong many times before.

This administration is trying to run Tennessee like an Ivy League school, and that's not what we are. We're a great southern, public University in the SEC who plays a little football in between classes. Our Vols are our life. Make Tennessee Great Again!

I tend to stick with what smart people have said in that DB will be here by or around NYE. However, this would affirm UT as most incompetently run organization in a state riddled with them, which is truly an accomplishment.

what would an AD coming in tomorrow really do to make things that much different by February?

How could the organization be poorly ran when the chancellor has just been named, isn't even fully assuming office until March 1, yet will have a new AD hired by February, when the sitting AD is still in office?

Because the current head football coach at Tennessee needs to make some critical hires this offseason to save his a$$. What good assistant is going to come in not knowing who his AD will be?

If you believe the rumors it is that we can't get new coaching hires without an AD

Any competent AD leaves the assistants to only answer to the head coach. If the AD is having to step over TCHFCATUTK, then TCHFCATUTK has more problems than just not being able to coach up players or making the right game day decisions. There's no way a new AD is going to do any significant changes to how much TCHFCATUTK can already spend in the first two months of taking office.

Long story short, Butch would be just as responsible for any changes he makes from til March as he would if a new AD was already sitting here.

He has an AD. Hart hasn't left. We didn't fire Hart, he's retiring. If Butch is smart enough to make changes, he's going to and if assistants are more worried about the AD than TCHFCATUTK, then they aren't coming to Knoxville anyways because TCHFCATUTK is already worthless.

Right but those assistants want to know who the AD is in sense of job security for Butch. And the AD also approves budget for assistants, so say Butch needs more money to go get a Helfrich. Where does that come from now?

Again, there is an AD in place. Assistants pay no mind to who the AD is anyway. If they don't think TCHFCATUTK is going to win, they aren't coming here. If they think TCHFCATUTK can win, they'll come, because winning cures all and no AD will fire a winning coach.

They might as well wear clown shoes till February.

That's the perception they are giving the rest of the conference.

The timing is critical for making hires and taking necessary steps to put Tennessee in the best position to succeed. Someone with a fresh take and energy would come in and start putting people in their place, making sure everything was running properly, and in the best interest of Tennessee. Looking at you Blackburn.

It's not that Davenport is already running it terribly, it's the fact that a decision like this would continue to show the same trend in this faulty administration that's been here long before her. And we had hoped for a new direction under her leadership. Also, I believe she will begin on Feb. 15th, instead of March now. Hart may still be "sitting" in his position, but he is a lame duck AD. He has no enthusiasm or energy to be here. He doesn't want to do anything that'll help Tennessee, he's all about his image and reputation.

The head coach can not offer compensation to the prospective assistant coaches on his own. The AD is responsible for OK'ing and procuring those salaries. The HC can only request. So what coach in their right mind would agree to come to a school not knowing their compensation package?

Lol. Because she's not making a rush, snap decision while completely uninformed we are showing that we are a poorly ran organization. While not the dumbest thing I've read on here, I find it more comical than pocket presents or valid Victorian.
