Because not all CC deserve a chance at the NC.
What if there is a mystery candidate like a Barnhart from Ky?
Has UT ties. Let's wait and see how this plays out.
For all we know Blackburn may have asked we wait so he can hire a football coach. How many coaches want to go somewhere with an AD having one foot out the door. Waiting gives him time to focus on his hire and not be concerned with appearance of interviews while conducting a search.
Gotta be hard being a donor and watching how these people.make decisions and do things. What the hell.will a search firm.help with when someone who already works there could do the same thing by picking up the phone and seeing who's interested
But I am not saying all. Just the P5 conference champs.
Am O to believe that the teams out of the BIG 12, BIG10, ACC, SEC, and PAC 12 can not field a worthy team in any given year? These conferences are littered with teams that have been historically and consistently good. Why not given Oklahoma its shot in a playoff format? I do think that the BIG 12 should have a conference championship game. Why not have this years playoff consist of:
Bama
PSU
Clemson
Washington
OU
3 at Large bids:
tOSU
WMU
maybe UM or another team that has played very well to be decided by the committee?
Then why shouldn't the P5 conference champs have automatic bids?
Get rid of the divisions within the conferences. Have all the teams within the conference play each other on a rotating schedule. Best conference record at the end of the regular season wins the conference title and the bid to playoffs. That precludes the 9-3 team from the weaker division throwing the proverbial monkey wrench in the playoff system. So you have the 5 P5 conference champs as decided by the regular season record (This preserves the importance of all regular season games) and then take the next three highest ranked schools regardless of conference affiliation. If they happen to be a non-P5 team then so be it. Now you have a field of 8. Then you use the Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, and Orange Bowls for the first round of the playoffs. That preserves the BCS Bowls in importance. Then you have the College Football Playoff Games with the four remaining teams in mid-January and the Championship Game the first weekend in February.
I'll be in my office if anyone needs anything else.
I've always said that burning a top draft pick on a QB is stupid unless you have the OL in front of him already built. No offense to Dak and Zeke, but you put them behind the Rams OL and they look the same as Goff and Gurley do now, and vice versa. Derek Carr is another example, put him behind the Bucs or Jags OL and he looks just like Bortles and Winston.
QBs are overrated in general. I'd argue more often than not the success of an offense is much more dependent on the OL than the QB.
Name me an awesome offense that doesn't have a good to great OL. Conversely name the great OL that doesn't block for a good offensive unit...I'll kick off the latter...last year's 4 win Cowboys team. Can't just plug in players behind a stud line and have them perform at MVP levels...as Dak and Zeke have...they have to perform.
I am no LWS, but the hyamms talk around Feb is not something I believe will happen.
I think Jimmy is great when it comes to reporting facts and things that have already transpired.
When it comes to speculation and things that may or may not come to pass I think UT feeds him crap like this from time to time and let's him send it out there.
I also think they spoon feed him from time to time when they want stuff out there. See the Hurd's mom getting arrested story. Jimmy says he had did some digging when it happened and came up empty. Magically, he finds the arrest report the week Hurd quits.
I'm not saying any ole schmuck can come in and dominate behind a good OL, but McFadden was very good behind that Cowboys OL last year. And the ol is even better this year.
And Dak has soooo much time all day long that no other QB in the NFL has. There are a lot of QB in the league who could do what Dak is doing behind that OL
