Well, If Jimmy Hyams said it......it must be the gospel..........what a goofball......I honest believe he has no insider information......its all speculation.......and in his case......its a shot in the dark with blindfolds on.

I find that rumor comical. We've got an AD, but somehow people believe that once Dave Hart announced his retirement, he was locked away in solitary confinement unable to do his job.

I don't agree with solitary confinement, but he's also not operating "as usual" either.

The only question I have is if staff changes are made do any of us feel confident in allowing Hart to negotiate and structure those contracts and any possible buyout arrangements without input from the new AD?

Why would anybody suddenly have concerns about Hart's ability to do that? We're not talking complicated language for most assistants.

For now Hart is still our acting AD.

Hart can and will oversee any new assistant coaching hires that buTch wants and he will take care of contract negotiations and either approve or disapprove any $$$ that buTch requests to pay any new people buTch wants hired.

Hart is still getting paid as our AD and he will continue to do his job until his replacement is hired and takes over as acting AD.

I still only wonder why such a long delay if Blackburn is the obvious best choice.

Time will tell what happens next so relax because that's all we can do anyway.

VFL...GBO!!!

If Blackburn is the obvious choice for the job and is the favorite to land it, why wait till February to announce it? IMO, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if our administration went with someone else.

Imagine you had someone reporting to you that was leaving his position on a certain date for any reason. Would you allow that person to make large finical decisions? That employee, regardless of what position he may hold, is no longer invested in the same way.

If you want to say that argument isn't valid, you have to also consider that Hart's vision and policies may not line up with the next ADs. You don't want him handing out a two year deal to a high profile assistant if the new AD is planning on dumping Butch after 2017 because he doesn't think Butch can meet the new AD's expectations.

Furthermore, if I'm a coach, I want to know who the AD is going to be. As an employee, I want strong leadership, or at least compatible leadership, above my immediate boss.

Hiring an AD in February is dumb if the right candidate is available now. I don't know what Davenport's criteria for right is, but you would think DiPietro would press this.

It really doesn't matter despite you not wanting that to be the answer. Hart isn't firing and/or hiring new head coaches, we're dealing with assistants. Their contracts aren't nearly as complicated as some of y'all are making them out to be. Even potential coordinators that might make 7 figures.

Hyams has tweeted that UT will not hire an AD till February. Beverly Davenport will make the decision without using a search firm.

well, really doubt Chancellor Davenport will be making the decision all by herself...even without a search firm...no way...:)

Basilio says new hire this week. Truth be told neither Jimmy or Tony have a clue

I remember him. He played under Fullmer. Saw him on the sideline once when Lane Kiffen was coaching here. I think he also was involved in the recruitment of Quentin Dormandy.

Payton Munning put the "M" in Dormandy, matter of fact. Happened on "D" day - the invasion of Dormandy. You know, the Germens, Peril Harbor, and all that...
