I'm looking forward to the game

Me too. Haven't been able to watch much this year so looking forward to seeing a whole game. I like what Barnes has done from the little I have seen and heard. They are young and will make a lot of mistakes, but they play hard.

I have a wife and 2 daughters, I am not the biggest or the baddest and have never claimed to be but if anyone ever did that to one of them I would use some kind of instrument to beat them so they would never have to worry about trying to play any sport again. He would at least have to worry about walking with a limp for the rest of his life. All he had to do was push her away and leave, tell her friends to control her. It seemed that trash came in with the notion of something violent on his mind. Look at how uncomfortable her friend gets when Mixon is standing behind him.

Not implying that at all...just implying that people don't have to forgive either...

Forgiveness is more New Testament
Plenty of Eye for an Eye Old Testament sentiment remains.

I have plenty of actions in my past as well that I would do differently if I could do it over again...some that I haven't found the ability to forgive myself for...

Eye for an eye was a judicial law. It was intended to be a law that made sure that punishment fit the crime. It was not intended to be about retaliation for individuals. The OT command fits perfectly with the New Testament teaching. But carry on

Why couldn't he have just walked away? Clearly she didn't want him around, she shoved him away. He wasn't in any danger, he should have left the situation.

I can't believe you're defending what he did there. Unbelievable.

If she was attacking him and wouldn't let up I could see him shoving her back to get away. But a right hook from a 200lb man to the face of a 120lb female? A man who also happens to be a finely tuned athlete. He could have severely injured or killed her. What's the worst thing from her shove? A bruise to his six pack or maybe hurt feelings?

You have to be really stupid to believe that's ok.

Nothing about his actions was justifiable. He should be playing for some FCS or CC instead of for a P5 school if at all. No excuses.

Love how men can't voice their opinions without being called idiots. If you choose to let someone hit you then that's your decision. If you choose to strike back that is your right.

Having your own opinion about recruiting is one thing but there is no reason strong enough to hit a woman. I am having a hard time understanding how there are people on here willing to debate this subject..

My nephew, 25, just had his tonsils removed. I had mine removed at 47 and I did pretty well with it. Best thing I ever did by the way. He has been battling a fever since the surgery, struggling to keep it below 102. The doctor is telling him that as long as it is below 102 then he's ok but if it rises to 102 or above that they should go to the OR. I always thought a fever like that was a sign of infection. I know that when I had mine removed they gave me an antibiotic intravenously at the hospital. His mom tells me she doesn't think they gave him one. Your thoughts?

Bump for Doc.

I just re watched the video, nothing life threatening about it. I can respect your opinion (without calling you an idiot). I guess the huge would be an idiot too because the woman would be the instigator and since she struck first his punch would be justified.

Fortunately, the criminal justice system doesn't support your opinion.

So if say Ronda Rousy tries to knock you out for no reason you're cool with that? You cant defend yourself against a woman attacker? Don't act like every woman is weaker and smaller than every man. Generally that may be the case, but it is not black and white like you say.

I suppose, but I wish there was some level of consistency from the media in how they covered things like this -- we shouldn't need video to be outraged when the account is verifiably accurate.

If you're a media figure who said, "Wow, that's awful" when the story initially emerged, who then swept it under the rug to be forgotten and who only now feels empowered to take a stand just because it's on video, your actions don't appear to me to be entirely driven by virtuosity.

Sports networks have drifted more into talking (in some cases lecturing) about social issues; they'll breathlessly cover Colin Kaepernick and others kneeling during the national anthem, they'll cover vague Title IX allegations, but a player punches a woman and they just kind of shrug until some video shows up?

I'm kind of rambling, but I think my point is that the media is very often full of crap when it comes to their stated intentions.

When there isn't a video and just a story, the picture is fuzzy. People can't wrap their head around how it exactly happened and who is telling the truth. When video is shown, it is their for everyone to see and the actual assault can't be disputed. Everyone knows how it happens, and you don't have to guess. A video can be a smoking gun. Visual evidence is very powerful.

Was THIS woman weaker and smaller?

I've been slapped, kicked, punched and bitten by different women. I've never felt threatened enough to punch one of them.

He could have easily pushed her away, grabbed her wrists and restrained her or left. There is no reason to do what he did period.

I believe in second chances as well but his chance shouldn't have been at OU. He should have been kicked off the team and forced to earn his way back.

No **** butchna... That was not my point. Comprehend better please  thanks buddy!

I accidentally hit the like button when I want to respond.

Minus one like please

Maybe I was raised different. Never ever would I raise my hands at a woman. Don't care who it is. You walk away from situations like this.

He's scum. Of course he's going to have remorse. This could cost him everything.

Mixon didn't feel threatened for one second. It was pure anger and everyone knows it, but some people are so base that they want to have the option some day to inflict violence on someone 1/3 their size, so they defend Mixon.

All of us have if we are honest. However, if I depend on the ultimate sacrifice on the Cross for salvation and forgiveness of sin, how can I not forgive others that also sin? To not do so is to expose me to the judgment reserved for the forgiven debtor in Matt. 18:21-35.

Forgive self and others. Then move on despite contrary feelings. Feelings and emotions lie at times.

Mixon has to make peace with what he did as does the woman he cold cocked. Okie blew his discipline IMO. However, we need to move on and deal with our own issues and failures. Like fielding a decent defense against Nebraska.

We will disagree on things, but tomorrow makes 3 years since we lost RR. Let's continue to remember that family in our thoughts/prayers.

I didn't know him personally, but I respected him on here. I feel as if I know many of you personally, even though I don't know your names. God Bless your families, and Merry Christmas.

Go Vols.
