I am not about ruining a man's life. I also believe in second chances. I think it's sad that in sports if a man makes a mistake he's blackballed by fans and media and isn't given any more opportunities. None of us are perfect, not even close. But we like to be a talking head on Tv and act as tho we are and condemn a guy and try to keep him from ever working again because he made a horrible decision in a matter of 5 seconds.

But here's the thing with Mixon: he was not punished at all. That's the problem here. Mixon was redshirted and faced no discipline. What this reveals is that OU, Stoops and the AD up there care more about winning ball games than they do about disciplining their players. Would love to see how different the situation with the frat boys would have been had they been football players. Bet they wouldn't have been expelled. Everyone involved in this decision should all be fired imo. Mixon should have been kicked off the team and had to go Juco route and earn his way back to elite football. You just don't do something like this and not face any punishment at all. Has this happened at TN Butch would have been burned at the stake already.

True, but this clown wouldn't have played a down after this in a CBJ coached program.

My nephew, 25, just had his tonsils removed. I had mine removed at 47 and I did pretty well with it. Best thing I ever did by the way. He has been battling a fever since the surgery, struggling to keep it below 102. The doctor is telling him that as long as it is below 102 then he's ok but if it rises to 102 or above that they should go to the OR. I always thought a fever like that was a sign of infection. I know that when I had mine removed they gave me an antibiotic intravenously at the hospital. His mom tells me she doesn't think they gave him one. Your thoughts?

For me this follows under the category of:

You get to choose your actions;
You do not get to choose your consequences.

If fans choose to not support a "former" woman abuser, then those are the consequences.

:hi:

Wow...this stirs up a lot of ambiguous feelings in me. With that last couple of sentences are you implying that a person cannot change? I am living proof that you can. I am not the person I used to be. I've never hit a woman, but I've done vile things. I hated the person I had become, and chose a different path. People can change. I don't know Mixon. Maybe he is a vile person. Maybe he was and isn't any more. He should have been punished harsher at the time. Justice demanded it. On that we are all in agreement.

If a woman hits a man then the man has a right to hit her back. If he Should have hit her back can be debated but the old saying in my household was old enough to pass a lick old enough to take one.

LOL she didn't close fist break his face. If you're not evolved enough to see the difference, then you and the ape at the zoo would make a great crew.

Love how men can't voice their opinions without being called idiots. If you choose to let someone hit you then that's your decision. If you choose to strike back that is your right.

No it's not. And your opinion earned your being called an idiot. You're truly a base human if you really believe that it's OK to inflict life threatening harm on someone who is totally incapable of doing even close to equal harm to you.

I just re watched the video, nothing life threatening about it. I can respect your opinion (without calling you an idiot). I guess the huge would be an idiot too because the woman would be the instigator and since she struck first his punch would be justified.

Nothing life threatening about someone's head falling 5-ish feet, striking a table and then floor on the way down? Dang, all the head injuries I've seen during my medical field career need to be re-evaluated and not have such a fuss made over about them.

Alright

Who's going to the basketball game tomorrow in Nashville?

Pretty sure I'm going to. Found some upper deck tickets for $6 on stubhub so it's too hard to say no. Plus it will probably be my only chance to see them this year besides the SEC tourney.

I agree. After finding out Stoops and the AD saw this before deciding on Mixons punishment in the first place I'm more angry at the administration. And after looking at Stoops history of lack of punishment for this type of stuff I think there should be more backlash against him.

Also, I think part of the reason people are so critical because of his lack of punishment. If he had been kicked out of OU(which would've been deserved), and then gone JUCO instead of just being given a redshirt year then people would be more willing to be given a second chance
Nicely summarized.

Why couldn't he have just walked away? Clearly she didn't want him around, she shoved him away. He wasn't in any danger, he should have left the situation.

I can't believe you're defending what he did there. Unbelievable.

If she was attacking him and wouldn't let up I could see him shoving her back to get away. But a right hook from a 200lb man to the face of a 120lb female? A man who also happens to be a finely tuned athlete. He could have severely injured or killed her. What's the worst thing from her shove? A bruise to his six pack or maybe hurt feelings?

You have to be really stupid to believe that's ok.

Not implying that at all...just implying that people don't have to forgive either...

Forgiveness is more New Testament
Plenty of Eye for an Eye Old Testament sentiment remains.

I have plenty of actions in my past as well that I would do differently if I could do it over again...some that I haven't found the ability to forgive myself for...

One thing I'm not understanding. All you guys who like me have been forgiven a lot of wrong. Why is what Khalil said so bad? If Mixon has made his wrongs right with the girl and her family, which as far as I can tell he has, then why no forgiveness for the guy? It was reprehensible and disgusting, but why no forgiveness now? I mean everybody here is wanting basically to destroy the guys life forever. I understand and advocate justice for victims, but is destroying the guys life justice? And please don't accuse me of defending what he did. It was disgusting, and he deserved harsher punishment than he got, but the decision on what punishment he received was not his. Those folks should answer for that.

He is in a position where kids are going to be looking up to him. He has a responsibility to be more responsible than that. I know he is still young but he is already a role model. Public figures don't take that role seriously and they should. College athletes should have to take a class about how their actions affect the next generation.
