I have never understood making fun of someone's name when one is clearly criticizing that person for other reasons. People don't name themselves, and your name is something that can't be taken away. Respect it, and feel free to criticize other things. I agree- it's childish.

I don't disagree with this post at all. But as a Dodgers fan, scorned by many years of disappointment at the hands of their former NL West division foe, I will forever refer to their former 3rd baseman as "Larry".

NFL scout to Barton Simmons on the ND QB Kizer that is going pro.... "He sucks"

Ouch lol

Can anyone explain to me how in the world Kizer is getting 1st round projections? From what little I have seen of him in his career he's looked average at best and he doesn't look like he's 6'5 with a laser rocket arm either.

if it we're possible, tennessee defensive coordinator bob shoop would erase the final three games from tennessee's regular-season schedule, the ones where his defense allowed a combined 118 points and 1,983 yards of total offense.

"it's a matter of our execution," shoop said while meeting with reporters after practice on wednesday. "i've said this all along: Somehow, someway, if we found a way to go 3-0 in november (or) if the season would've ended at the end of tennessee tech, you'd probably say, you know, 'the defense, they had some injuries.'"

"those last three games were tough," shoop said, "and i own those. Those were on me. We found a way, like i said, to win two of those last three games, which i'm very, very proud of. You have a sour taste in your mouth after that last game."

"confidence and momentum are powerful things," shoop said. "i think at some point in the kentucky or missouri game we lost a little confidence. We were a little worn down.

"you play 100-and-some snaps against missouri, (it's) a long season with being paper thin in regard to depth. I think all those things compounded themselves the last couple weeks."

Coach Larry Scott:

“This time of year always brings about all those speculations and conversations and different things all over the country,” Scott said. “I do aspire to be a head coach again sometime, but we have a really good thing going here at Tennessee. So if those opportunities don’t present themselves at the right place at the right time, what better place is there to be than right here at Tennessee?

“With what we’re doing and how we’re building this, the way that we’re recruiting and the way that we’re doing things here right now, there’s no better place to be right now.”

“However, when you’re in a place like where I am right now at Tennessee, it’s not a dire situation. I’m returning to where we’ve got it back really going good here.”

Scott said Vols head coach Butch Jones has been “great” to him from the beginning of his time in Knoxville and willing to let him explore any possibility to become a full-time head coach.

“We have open dialogue and communication,” Scott said. “Obviously Coach Jones knows that one day that is a goal of mine, is to be a head coach again. But I’m not gonna rush into anything. I’m not gonna make irrational decisions. We’re gonna always be open and honest with each other and communicate with where we are with those things, and when those things come up, he’s always gonna be the first to know.

“He’s very involved, and he does research. He’s very involved with helping to cultivate those things, if need be.”

:)

My dad was from LA. I grew up in NC and in 1986, my little league team was the Mets, so I ended up being a fan of theirs since they had the World Series run. Well, my favorite player was Darryl Strawberry, so when he was traded to the Dodgers, that's when I switched allegiances for life (I was already a little inclined to be a Dodgers fan with my dad's background).

Also, on the subject of Strawberry, one of my favorite ESPN commercials was one where Keith Olberman was a lounge piano player, but he only could do sports related songs. During the commercial, he does a very slow, dramatic piano riff and sings, "Darrryyyl".

Edit: He wasn't a lounge piano player, he was pushing CDs where he sings sports songs. Found a very poor quality version of the commercial:

SMH. Barnett came in at #15 of ESPN's top 50 players this year. Maybe I am biased, but I figured at least top 10.

If everyone ahead of him are skill position players I'm fine. If there is more than 1 DL ahead of him i'all just Shake my head in disgust

Make up of this class is very different than previous years.

Defense heavy.

I was also looking at the top 247 the other day. The number of, or lack thereof, top DTs this year is surprising. Only 7 in the top 150 and 9 in the top 200. They have been numerous in recent years, IIRC.

Also, of those 9, five are located in SEC states. I guess I didn't realize it was such slim pickings at DT overall this year. There were 7 DTs in the top 50 and 12 in the top 100 in 2016.

3 DL's ahead of him. 3 LB's ahead of him. A couple of DB's. The rest are offensive skill players, including Christian McCaffrey.

Since I know post #3368 made you laugh, I can there for assume that that is the reason you said most weren't funny..amirite?
A few were kinda funny, but it gets old quick. Kind of like finding a new restaurant that's pretty good nearby your house and eating there every meal for 3 weeks.

True story: I know a guy and gal that just named their son Major Johnson. I don't know why they did that to their kid, but he's going to have to put that name on future job apps, sign his name on documents, etc.

Another true story, there used to be a Chinese restaurant next to a place I lived years ago. The owner's name was Hung Lo.

Lmao I've never heard of the word "s******ed" before. We say "snickered". Ok I can hear Bob say "Yankoff under center". Poor kid has no doubt has been given an hard time lol.
