I am not sure why you guys are so opposed to keeping the internet a safe space. Akers family is likely looking on in here. How will they respond to the obvious dysfunction. It's terrifying for the future of Tennessee football. If you don't have a school counselor to consult please consider checking in with you employee assistance officer. Thank you.

At least they have your humor to soften the trauma...anyone?...

5 star QBs from the past few years.

2016

Jacob Eason
Shea Patterson

2015

Josh Rosen
Blake Barnett
Kyler Murray

2014

Kyle Allen

2013

Max Brown
Christian Hackenburg

2012
Jameis Winston
Gunner Kiel

2011
Jeff Driskell
Braxton Miller

While there's quite a few really good QB's on that list, none are for sure game changers.

In retrospect, would you have took Max Brown or Christian Hackenburg over Josh? Eason and Patterson look good, but it's still too early to call. Barnett hasn't sniffed the field, Murray is a push right now. Not familiar enough with Rosen to make a call on him.

Obviously Winston, Miller, and Allen rocked it. But it's by no means a for sure game changer. I will say evaluations have improved drastically in recent years.

Winston isn't a game changer? I don't like the guy but he is definitely a game changer. He won a Heisman, a national title, and is finally blossoming in the NFL pushing the Bucs into playoff contention for the first time since 2007. I do however agree with the rest. There are a couple really good QB's listed like Rosen but idk about a game changer.

Alright, most of these jokes aren't doing anything for me, but this one got me lol

True story: I know a guy and gal that just named their son Major Johnson. I don't know why they did that to their kid, but he's going to have to put that name on future job apps, sign his name on documents, etc.

Absolutely...Winston was a slam dunk 5*. They got him right.

Poorly worded on my part. Yes, there's three game changers on that list IMO. But what I was trying to say is it's by no means a for sure thing that a 5* is going to come here and rock it. Look at some of the 5 stars we've had over the years and you'll get your proof of that. I do apologize.

When josh Rosen is healthy he is the best QB in college football

Ahh, Gotcha. I definitely agree with that. Just shows that these recruiting rankings aren't perfect by any means. The real evaluation comes when they get on campus and play against other elite talent.

I'll take my chances

Gotcha. So, probably no tea-leaves to read with this one as it relates to Blackburn.

And, if one were to lean to the pessimistic side of things, does him being tied up with a search for head football coach affect him ending up at UT?

It's hard to tell. Richmond almost doubled his salary but UTC offered a 30% raise and 8 year contract and money to the assistant pool to make it one of the highest paid FCS staffs in the country. Plus he played at UTC and nobody wanted him gone. He probably could have left after last year. Good to see DB putting the money out there. I don't think the UTC coaching search will tie anything up. The thing to watch is see if they'll let him hire a coach soon before he leaves or wait until a new AD is hired.
