Both Fort and Hubbs mentioned Hoke multiple times in the chat tonight as a very possible Strip replacement. And T Fair replacement for Willie.

Bring them

Get Helfrich on the line, and find me a LB coach who can develop talent as well as being a top notch recruiter, and let's see what we've got

Whats your opinion on these potential changes Ron? I like the Hoke move. Fair would be good because he is a former player but I dont know if he would be good just because of his alumni status.

I like both options. Hoke is a really good DL coach and recruiter. I don't know all that much about T Fair's coaching ability but I think he's at least capable or better. And I like that he's young and played the position at UT and in the NFL, that will help quite a bit in recruiting.

Also, Shoop's specialty on D is coaching Safeties I believe so Fair could coach just Corners which would be good, IMO.

A quote from an article today in Chattanooga TFP

Said Blackburn: "No one has asked me to report to Knoxville. I've not been asked to interview. If I am asked, I will (interview). I won't lie to you. I was there (as a UT athletic department employee) for 28 years. My name is going to be mentioned because of my tenure. But (when I left UT for UTC) I didn't run from something. I ran to something."

He soon added, "It has to play itself out. And that has not started — officially."

Tony is off base with that chatter.. I'm sure there are friends of Gilbert's within the program and outside the program that have continued to lobby on his behalf. But it will be futile. David has far too much backing within and outside the athletic department IMO

That is a very positive nugget from LWS! He's usually pretty spot on with this kind of info. Approve the chancellor on the 15th, then officially hire Blackburn on the 16th, and let's get to crackin' on the changes we need to win big.

Chris Lowe was complimentary of Jon Gilbert a couple of weeks ago, but also said he thought Blackburn would be better. Somebody mentioned 12/15 for our new chancellor. I am still tentatively hopeful that that is all they're waiting for. It's got to be Blackburn, in my opinion. Surely our BOT are not so short-sighted that they cannot see that? Oh, wait. We are doomed.

Won't happen on the 16th. But likely to happen by Christmas and certainly before bowl game. And it will be Blackburn.

I get the feeling Kiffin didn't really want this job. Saban refused to let him go to LSU though. He prob has nudey pics of Kiffin banging interns or something lol

I always believe in the "has photos" theory for all inexplicable events/decisions. :)

If I recall correctly, Fair was a grad assistant during Cam's freshman year when he was well on his way to developing into the best corner in college football.

Also worked with Coleman enough to get him an NFL job.
