Is it possible to have expectations Butch fails to meet that don't immediately result in his job loss. I say yes.

Does that mean we should be happy going 8-5 or 9-4 every year. NOPE.

This year was disappointing because we all expected team #120 to build on top of team #119's success. I think we both agree that Tennessee fans EXPECT our team to be coached in a way that puts our team in direct competition for division championships each year. If we can't expect winning the east occasionally, then I would argue that isn't good enough.

I don't think we are really disagreeing that much, but I think you like being disagreeable!

Well, I like Deandre Johnson's potential, but we still need massive upgrades in this class. We currently have 20 3*s. I think we're going to land Akers so that helps. Probably going to add Corker also. What's the chances we add Labryan Ray? Any other higher ranked prospects we're in on?

JMO, but I don't feel like we have any shot with Gibbs. I am sure they are communicating to some degree and while we made the top 5 I just haven't heard much positive coming out of that situation in a while. But again, just my opinion and hope I am wrong.

I posted before my belief that his ego couldn't handle working for a former assistant. I don't know how much lower he would've lowered for a HC gig, but unless there was something else going on behind the scenes, he most likely would have stayed at Bama.

Thats a good point. I was wondering why he would take the FAU gig over LSU OC but what you said makes sense. We all know how big his EGO is and working for Orgeron would probably be a big shot to it.

IMO this season was the first that we could reasonably expect Butch to win the East. The way the games played out last year was dissapponting, but all in all I think he at least met expectations then.

So in my mind this year started a 3-4 year clock that Butch has to win the East and at the bare minimum make it a competitive game in the championship. And if he ever finishes worse than an 8 win season barring some extreme circumstances than take off an extra year off the clock, so to speak.

Probably a good way to look at it. If Butch is not in Atlanta within 3 years, it's going to be hard to make the argument he deserves any more time.
