He really really likes Tennessee & its atmosphere during a ballgame. I think that's what will get him to commit to us in the end. I think Ohio State & Ole Miss are our two strongest competitors. I also don't expect him to get in any hurry making a committment decision either.

Hope he stays in state. OSU and Bama going to be tough to keep him home. Just don't go to Bama. Not that I like OSU, just don't want to face him for 4 yrs. Of course I am pulling for him to stay here. Hopefully he has always wanted to be a Vol.

North Side defensive lineman Greg Emerson was at University School of Jackson on Tuesday to see where Smith would choose and said now that the USJ product will be in Knoxville it doesn’t hurt the Vols at all. “It’s definitely a positive since I would know someone that knows where I came from. It’s really a plus for Tennessee,” Emerson said.

“Butch Jones and coach Strip came through last week,” Emerson said. “They came while we were lifting and I have a bunch of Tennessee fans on our team and I told them Butch Jones was in there and they were all like, ‘Quit lying.’ “Then they opened the door to let everyone see him and he waved and it was really funny.”

“The coaches. Coach Strip and coach Ollie,” Emerson said. “They’re funny. But, it’s really how they coach their players to be hard workers and they push their guys to the maximum limit.

“It has a lot to do with them and a lot to do with the community. I don’t think anyone wants to go where there’s lots of clutter. Knoxville is a good community and the people there are good.

Emerson plans to visit Clemson and Tennessee once again in the near future.

I'm withholding judgement till the class is, but getting Trey is HUGE. It definitely isn't as bad as it could have been..but we will see. I really suspected Trey was trolling us all along. I think he made Butch sweat it out, but kudos to Butch for not taking him for granted...good job. I'm gonna have to quit calling him "fraud" now.

I just never trusted that he was a lock, I mean it is obvious the coaches didn't either, or they wouldn't have worked so hard to close the deal. I thought we had a good chance, but he just kept on flirting with Urbs and Tyrion Saban right up to the last.
