Bye bye Butch - Purdue bound (message board rumor)

I was responding to someone who said "a lot of them are unhappy" which is simply not true. I have yet to see even one from pre-Dooley days publicly say they are unhappy. And the ones I know are quite content..

I don't expect you will either. That also doesn't mean they are content because they are not speaking out publically.

Seems to be a lot of talking in circles. Back up his quote that "a lot of VFLs are unhappy". If you can't, then it is pure and utter speculation..

Not really. I'm not naming names for obvious reasons. And you need Jimmy Hyams and the rest of Knoxville to publish it anyway.

Speculation is hilarious given the other topic being discussed.

He must of been bucking for a raise last week, hope it fell on deaf ears. Knowing the history of the UTAD he'll probably get a million dollar raise and a lifetime contract out of the deal...

There was something going on. That plane didn't fly itself to Purdue last week..

I'm sorry, but that is just not correct. The UT engineering departments work closely with several other universities, and if there are enough passengers to make the flight time cost cheaper than individual airline tickets, they take N111UT or a booster plane. Other departments use it too in this sort of situation, although engineering is the main party, or at least used to be.

Do people seriously think the sole function of UT's flight department is to serve the athletic department?

Correct. Butch has only flown on the UT plane for Media days and Shoop hire last year... He has flown on a certain booster's plane for the majority of his recruiting travel this year.

And to your point about the UT Flight Department only being for the AD, that is correct. If it was only for the AD, they wouldn't be flying on a small old King Air.

So you're only sources are the two former players you "know"? Damn, as usual I'm disappointed by the Negavols grasping at straws. Much like TDawg, I have first-hand experience with the other topic being discussed. It's not quite speculation.

This is all true.

It's also not why this became known either.

Negavol.

What am I ever to do now.

Go with your first hand. I'm sure it's telling you no one in Jones camp has talked to Purdue either.

Yep.

If your looking for leverage that's a good place.

Saban is in a league by himself in the coaching world. Followed up by Meyer. The rest of the coaching world does things more "normal". And agentsagents continually seek ways to enhance their clients financial stability and growth. It not only helps their clients but it puts more $ into their own pockets.
They're not fans, they're businessmen/women and their job is to do what's best for their clients. Fans should understand this but most don't.

I seriously doubt he would actually leave Tenn on his own. His agent may do a bit of posturing to try to bleed more money out of the AD.

Good lord I don't think I could take Tennessee football seriously anymore if he got a raise or extension after this season. I'm not sure anybody could.

I'm not disagreeing with any of that.
I think Trace Armstrong is a very good agent. And for that reason his name (which I believe to be 100℅ true) being floated to Purdue as leverage against UT doesn't make sense. For the same reason Sabans agent wouldn't flurt with Va Tech but rather Texas or an NFL team.

I have no idea, I'm ignorant on the "inner workings" of the AThletic Department.

Could Hart even do that? Being on his way out?

I don't see it either way, and I'm sure the new AD wouldn't. Would he?

Agree. And agents also normally do the "flirting" with their clients consent.

It's to generate talk. That's all.

It's not a good move to generate that when your stock has took this kind of a hit.

He's not just playing the game, but truly over being here.

We might be stuck in a loveless marriage for a year, but the ties that bind aren't there any more.

Heard from a reliable source, CBJ has informed some recruits and players and members of the university he is moving on to Purdue. Wait till all the coach speak rips this fanbase to shreds. We are finished .

About what?
You ended on a skid and you gauged interest from Purdue to do what?

There was no real interest in the Purdue job. Period.
If Trace (and I doubt it) floated his name it was to generate talk. That's what I meant.
What really happened? Never mind

We agree on the first part. Purdue was not interested in Jones.

Sounds like a good country song.
