Best shot is Holgerson leaving WVU and Butch landing there. Coached there before so may be a good prospective landing spot.

As a WVU alum (grad school) and somebody who lived in Morgantown WV for several years after I left Knoxville, please don't wish that upon my #2 team. WVU also has a pretty sensible admin and AD I don't see them making an amateur move like hiring Butch.

There have been some good points made in the thread. Like the fact that Butch is definitely feeling the heat and probably knows if he doesn't perform a miracle next year, he is most likely gone. We all know he is prideful to a fault, so it's not beyond belief that he leaves instead of being fired. It always looks better to quit a job instead of being forced out.

Hard to blame Dooley for being firm with that buyout number. Of course we should have had an interim coach for 2010 or just brought back Phil. I mean it's crazy that Hamilton was so betting so big on his football hire and that hire left without one concern. That's when boosters should have realized that canning Phil wasn't so smart after all.

Wonder how bad the attendance slipped during their crap years? I'd be interested to know. To me that's the only way they'll ever change anything here. They don't listen to anything other than loss of revenue.

The attendance always starts high every year period. It only really decreases if Tennessee is losing and I am not talking 8-4 losing but a losing record and not being competitive.

Folks will still attend if the team is winning and competitive. Most don't base attendance on who is coaching but on who the opponent is.
