Tier 1 should be renamed "Redneck Fantasy". It's a guy who hasn't coached in a decade and another guy who has NEVER coached at any level (passing academies don't count). I would move Kiffin and JBC out of Tier 2 and put Miles and Petrino in there. They both have much more proven track records than Kiffin and JBC has never been a HC at any level.

I hope I don't have to explain it much further, but all the the tier 1 and 2 guys are NFL talents, borderline NFL talents, or potential NFL talents. Gruden won a ****ing Championship at the highest level of professional football in the world. It's time to stop accepting mediocrity and pretending con men like Butch are in these guys' league.

I would guess it will be. This will be a whole new AD department and completely new mindset. I would bet they learned from the mistakes made by the ones they are replacing and won't continue making the same mistakes and taking chances on less experienced coach's. My money is on them opening up the check book and hiring a championship level coach.

You have to have a taker. There are only a few championship level coaches and they are more than likely staying where they are at as it is easier to be a championship coach if you don't have to play Alabama.

rn to Oregon.....but if he didn't, everyone needs to unload their savings and hand it to him to come here if butch were to leave. Shoop and him would be quite fun. Again tho, I think if butch cleans out his defensive assistants and brings in shoops, and brings on clausen as a qb/OC assistant, we would have a championship caliber staff. We would just need an oline coach.

That's the thing: If CBJ would make the right staff moves then let his coaches coach while he croots and steers the ship, he potentially could have a big turnaround and collect all the praise for being such a genius. He may not listen to me though; you wanna talk to him?

Given the lawsuit that was recently settled - the answer should be no. The boosters who want to win even if it means selling their soul to the devil would probably be okay but the Chancellor would not be doing her job if she allowed a hire with any type of criminal history. There is also other things she will need to avoid as well.

I believe she was hired to ensure UT keep their noises clean in the AD. That is going to automatically put certain folks on the "no list" as it should.

I think Gruden would be simply based off he could assemble the absolute best staff in college football and a HC is only as good as the guys around him.He is a really great offensive mind and could hire elite defensive coach's and let them do their thing. Not to mention the recruiting classes he could bring in it would rival what Ala does every year. It would all depend on what it would cost to get him here and how much of a salary pool he wanted for his assistants. But if he said yes to the job then you give him whatever he wants. I have no doubt recruiting would be the best it has ever been at TN and the days of 3* university would be over.Im not sure he will coach again but if he did UT would be probably the only college job he would ever take.He definitely would far and away be my first,second and third choice.

Agreed. I think Cooter qualifies as an almost automatic "no" based on his past transgressions.

You're absolutely right and that pretty much eliminates guys like Petrino and Briles. There's weren't criminal but more character and integrity hits. So those 3 don't even need to be mentioned because it will never happen. Kiffin is another one that can be scratched off that list with the recruiting sanctions he left us with. Cut doesn't like to recruit and we all know you have to recruit at a top level to win in the SEC so scratch off his name too. McIntyre is Butch 2.0 so no chance in hell there either. I honestly go all in with Gruden, offer him anything he wants and make him say no over and over until he says yes. This constant hiring of risky coach's that haven't won at top levels has to end. Yea we would probably eventually luck up and find a good one but how many more hires does it take till me luck up? We are already on Coach #3 and haven't even sniffed a SEC East title or major bowl game.

True, but the difference is the culture is almost entirely different. If we had an AD in place, especially Blackburn, I wouldnt be concerned in the least. I am naive about this stuff at times but in my opinion, I would rather force Hart to retire now, name Fulmer interim AD with a permanent title for him later, and keep working on AD search and if need be, let Fulmer and a team including Manning and Charles Davis, a few others, lead a coach search. Like I said, that may be a stupid thought, just seems to be we would be better off with an interim AD that is here for the long term than a lame duck.
