From Hubbs last night:
This is after they said Butch would have interest in Houston, but that the Vandy loss likely ruled him out for that job.
When asked if Butch genuinely might want to leave:
JAV at 247 (top insider there, pretty well established as having connections) also said that Butch would be interested in moving on, but the loss to Vandy sealed his fate with many of the open jobs (i.e., Houston). Also said that he wouldn't want to take a step down to a job like Purdue.
VQ lending any credence whatsoever to the "Butch is unhappy and wants to leave" rumors speaks volumes, IMO, because it's not like he's in a position to use that to get a raise. It's also not a positive thing to report for the program or for Butch in any way at this point.
I believe that Butch genuinely wants out. Others may feel different. But to me the evidence certainly points in that direction.
CBJ is going to have media and PR issues anywhere he goes. The pile-on isn't local-- it's national. It hurts his marketability, and it isn't great for UT, either. Nobody wants to have the face of their program be the subject of ridicule.
People have to keep in mind that a school would need to be willing to pay UT $4m to hire Butch away.
Not a lot of schools are going to fall into that category.
It is only slightly more likely than UT being willing to pay him $10m to fire him which is at 0% chance of happening.
If we go to the Music City Bowl, are club seats worth the extra money? I've only been to Nissan Stadium twice and one time I was in 300s and the other time 100s. I was going to be in Nashville on New Years Eve anyways.
I think it'll be interesting to see how the team responds in a bowl game. Butch seems to always have the team ready coming off a bye or an extended period off.
Well except for this year vs Appy State and after the bye at South Carolina. This whole year is so weird...
We didn't turn the ball over last year. This year we were AWFUL at it. We were not penalized much last year. This year we were pretty bad. Last year we had great 3rd down defense. This year's sucked. We didn't have anyone quit last year. This year we had 2 mid season leave.
So many uncharacteristic mistakes and problems from a Butch Jones coached team... I don't get it

I think this is one of the reasons why Hubbs said that the $10mil buyout is as big of a concern as we fans think it is right now.
We'll know, win or lose, whether CBJ has lost the team after the bowl game. It's not going to be a matter of whether we win or lose, but how the team looks doing it. That will be the tell all.
I'm sure it could be negotiated, but CBJ has nowhere to go and we have no Chancellor, no AD and no legacy hire like Harbaugh, Herman or Orgeron waiting for our offer. I just don't see Joe DiP dirtying his hands with firing and hiring a HC this year. And I don't see the MCB as being therapeutic, but who knows-- maybe I'm wrong.

To me, the team looked like they were playing hard against Vandy. They were just so outmatched and out of position on plays that the defense was horrendous. Not sure how much you can take away from that.
Gruden, Cooter, Tee Martin, sure there are a few others I'm missing. Point is our AD won't shovel out the money and are content with bargain hires.
