I haven't been on here in a while. I'd would like to say it's because you are all crazy and don't deserve the time of day from me, but in fact, it's because I've had my lazy ass sitting on a nice warm beach for the last week and a half.

On to the more important issue of what we as a fan base should do in regards to how to handle and show our displeasure with how this year has turned out.

I for on have had enough. I vow right here....right now....on VN, for everyone to see......I, BaldBiker will only watch one more TN football game this football season. After that, win or lose, I will not watch another game (spring game excluded) until next football season!!

Let's show these people that as die hard UT Football fans we mean business! Whose with me?

I back this plan 100%!
It's about time that a true VFL spoke up

:)

His show cause expires in December. But he has expressed adamantly that he is happy as the president of Youngstown State and has no interest in returning to coaching.

President of Youngstown State doesn't pay nearly as well as coaching at UT. He makes a fraction of what Butch Jones does.

That is not "reporting"

That article is speculating based on what we pretty much already know. Nobody has been fired and Dave Blackburn is thought to be the frontrunner.

Yeah, that's the SDS way. That's why I deleted them from my FB news page.

How on earth is it clear he doesn't want to be here anymore?

From Hubbs last night:

If Holgerson went to Houston then I could see Jones in play at West Virginia. I don't think Jones will be a factor at Houston or Purdue.

This is after they said Butch would have interest in Houston, but that the Vandy loss likely ruled him out for that job.

When asked if Butch genuinely might want to leave:

I think his agent is looking at all his options as they do every year. Is this year a little different? I think so Coming off a disappointing finish as well as not knowing who his boss is going to be changes things a bit this offseason.

Now does anyone want him or take a real look at him. I'm not sure about that.

JAV at 247 (top insider there, pretty well established as having connections) also said that Butch would be interested in moving on, but the loss to Vandy sealed his fate with many of the open jobs (i.e., Houston). Also said that he wouldn't want to take a step down to a job like Purdue.

VQ lending any credence whatsoever to the "Butch is unhappy and wants to leave" rumors speaks volumes, IMO, because it's not like he's in a position to use that to get a raise. It's also not a positive thing to report for the program or for Butch in any way at this point.

I believe that Butch genuinely wants out. Others may feel different. But to me the evidence certainly points in that direction.

If he does want to leave he better do it now because if he stays it hurts recruitment if he leaves it hurts recruitment but there still time to salvage some of this class if we get an AD who's already looking at people and building a list as we speak

People have to keep in mind that a school would need to be willing to pay UT $4m to hire Butch away.

Not a lot of schools are going to fall into that category.

It is only slightly more likely than UT being willing to pay him $10m to fire him which is at 0% chance of happening.

We need to hire a new AD asap, and if they're a good one, they can handle this situation..

But step 1 before anything else is that we need the new AD in place

If UT wanted him to leave they could waive the $4mil.

I wonder if after the lawsuit became public that's when Butch was really done, because it harmed him personally and somewhat undid a lot of the progress he had made for the program, at least from a perception standpoint. And that feeling carried into camp and beyond- and the players felt it too and that is why from Appalachian State kickoff, nothing has looked right since. He looks miserable here and he's not even attempting to hide it. When you're that miserable at your job, it's only a matter of time- and in my work experience rarely do miserable people have great success. If Butch was truly wanting another job, he should have coached better during the Vanderbilt game. I don't expect any improvement for the bowl either. It's shocking that we are here after so much excitement one year ago.

You can certainly believe he wants out but to say it as a fact isn't reasonable.

I am not taking what "insiders" say because they are the same ones that took the champion of life quotes out of context and the presser bs last week. Screw those guys

Agree to disagree. I think the writing is on the wall

Hubbs and Fort didn't run with that comment to my knowledge. In fact, they put it into context for the idiots who aren't capable of the complex thinking required to read the comment and realize what Jones meant by it.

Edit: Here's PFort downplaying it immediately after it happened. https://twitter.com/Volquest_Paul/status/800771559921188864

And as usual in this coaching carousel, Tennessee is always a day late and a dollar short. Others will make upgrades and improvements while we just sit and make zero moves. The admin must not care that our head football coach who makes over 4 million is out openly searching for his next job.

And they are also saying Jones agent checks out other options every year yet fans only read the part that is most scandalous.

Looks like the disagreement is which category do we put Jones in. Is it the "I'm cool with my job, but if a better option becomes available, I'm all ears" or is it the "I freaking hate this job, please get me out" category? I'd tend to lean towards category 1, with some sentiments towards category 2 becoming a bit stronger.

"I want to stay ahead of the posse and restart my clock elsewhere and avoid having 'fired' on my resume"
