If CBJ can bring in a solid recruiting class amidst all this, he'll get props for that. With some of our top targets looking shaky and current recruits tweeting things like “Great in home visit with LSU!! #Blessed” today, he'll have to put in the work.

LSU is going to be even more deadly on the trail... and god forbid they get kiffin too.:mf_surrender:

Concerning the $2.5mil/year Butch is owed if fired...

That's from a LWS post on VQ. He doesn't seem to think buyout is the issue.

Knowing what I know about the University of Tennessee there is absolutely no shot we fire Butch Jones at the cost of $10m.

Not sure if Larry hasn't had his morning coffee or what but I am not buying for a second that UT would pull the trigger on $10m buyout with or without a new AD.

-Fort on whether UT is better off with or without Jones moving forward

Bolded is depressing. There is no coordinated "all-in" push from the administrators to make Tennessee great in football again. Just isn't a priority.

A.D. hire is so important right now if we ever want to win consistently

Well, he said that wasn't under consideration, and he noted that he wasn't saying UT would if there was an AD in place, so I don't think LWS was selling that anyway.

Well that's what I tell them. I really like Bielema.

I'm sure there are plenty of farh Bert folks out there, but Saban is probably the only coach totally immune from that. I'd say butch is under quite a bit more heat though. Losing to Mizzou was bad, but that was really their only BAD loss. We had USC and Vandy in the same year.

I like Bielema too, especially for Arkansas. If he could get an instate crop of recruits like Nutt or petrino got, he'd probably have similar results.

If that's the truth they won't get the message until fans stay home and ticket sales take a huge dive.

I can tell you this much if the admin is not willing to give their all then why should the fanbase? A huge chunk of me does not want to give money towards a groups plan that is clearly not working out and who refuses to do what is right. Why help their case by giving them the money?

On a serious note, all this football stuff is trivial in comparison to what the folks up in Gatlinburg, Sevierville, and Pigeon Forge are going through. Please remember to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

I think this is some of the reason Cheek is no longer the Chancellor. Hopefully this new Chancellor will have a different view of athletics and how it doesn't have to be an either or when it comes to academics and athletics. I wouldn't count on it though. I've said for years that one major contributing factor was when the AD was removed from under the UT president and placed under the UT chancellor. I think it was a big mistake.

It seems to me that Tennessee fans are their own worst enemy in this situation. This administration knows that Tennessee fans will come out in droves if there is a glimmer of hope that the team will be good. If not all they have to do is fire that coach hire a new young up and comer let him say a few things get to fan base excited and then when he tanks wash rinse and repeat.

The only way to get the administration to care is for fans to stop showing up and stop buying gear. I mean like 2012 dooly level bad maybe even worse. If the university loses enough money they will have no choice. The first step of this revolution is to boycott whatever crappy bowl team 120 will go to. Make the university have to send back thousands of tickets for the first time in years

I don't think the administration necessarily doesn't give their all or doesn't want UT to be on Alabama's level, it's just that they are incompetent. They are very bad at their jobs and have bumbled every opportunity given to them over the last ten years time and time again. They want to succeed. Who doesn't? They just happen to be idiots. That's why these admin hires now are so important.

After this year, ticket sales and gear sales will be down. No one will believe 2017 is "the year" or Butch is "the guy" after losing to USC and Vandy. We all bought in on 2016, but I guarantee you sales of everything will be down next year.

Dave Hart stopped the hemorrhaging of money over on the Hill.

He did but when you are bringing in $70M in profit on the football program it's astonishing that your reserve is so pitifully low. The profit of the whole AD is not very impressive. Having to support all the non-revenue sports has a lot to do with it I'm sure.

I think the 30M or so from SECN probably had more to do with that than Hart.

We were getting tv money before SECN came into existence. There's been extra money spent on going to the SECN as well.

People just can't stand to give Hart credit. He did the heavy lifting and combined the athletic departments that was a complete waste of money to be split in the first place. We were bleeding out money over there. Hammy was wasting money.

Football should eat first, then men's basketball, then everything else.

I'm not putting any stock in this new chancellor helping out the AD right now. I'm just going to assume what is normal for UT and she will just leave it alone or make it worse. I'm waiting until we hear who gets the AD job. That will be the biggest factor, IMO. However, this year has made me think about some stuff pertaining the fanbase. Some would call it a bad way of going about it, but picture only a small percentage of the bowl game UT tickets being sold this year? Everyone in this fanbase is fed up with this carousel. I'm not saying do it, but I personally couldn't blame anyone who decided not to go because they want to make a statement that enough is enough.

Rick Barnes is literally just collecting a check. There couldn't be a more "meh" basketball program in the country right now.
