The whole argument that the d-line will be better because of experience is bs if you don't have talent. Outside of Barnett, we didn't have any linemen that got to the qb consistently or collapse the pocket. McKenzie is overrated and Tuttle might not reach his full potential because of injury. The same argument can be made for the o-line. An average player with experience is still an average player. I see us as a four loss team at best next year
What has McKenzie done the past two seasons to make you think he's ever gonna be more than average?
I don't know. But sometimes egos get in the way, and chemistry can be better with different rosters. I don't think a "chunk" of talent will be gone. We will be just as talented at OL, WR, LB, and DB. We have a slight downgrade at RB but still add Chandler. QB is a key.
Well said except for saying you haven't seen developmentIn tired of the cliches. I'm tired of hearing the word maturation process. I'm tired of always having to wait till next year. I'm tired of seeing no development in the players. Im tired of having to watch highlights from the 90s in hopes of that magical season again and only to be disappointed. Butch needs to go and Boosters need to call the shots and pay big bucks and get a proven winner. This is freaking Tennessee Football. One of the best programs in the Country. I want to hear other fanbases go ahead and markup a loss when they see Vols on the schedule. Tennessee should be a team that other teams hate playing.
Without a doubt.
I would add Kamara, kelly, Jennings, boulware, Wiesman, Kendrick to that offensive group as well that has developed.
Maybe Richmond.
Richmond is definitely better today than he was to begin the season, no doubt. I don't know if Kamara has developed. I think he's always been great he's just been criminally underutilized
K-Mac was underweight for the position and his playing style this season IMO. He dropped 30+ pounds from the previous season and it showed when you saw him in person. No way was he at his listed 325. I just don't think that's K-MAc's game. By contrast, Tuttle looked every bit his listed 311 and may have been 315-320 when I saw him in fall camp. He was significantly bigger/heavier than K-Mac.
Quay Picou looks and plays like Owen Williams without the bulging muscles. He needs bulk and to hit the weight room hard. Vickers is filled out all his frame will allow IMO. Butcher can get to 280-285 or so and probably be a handful if he can stay healthy.
There are not many teams in CFB that had anywhere near the injuries inside the front 7 that this one did. People were rightfully upset with Gaulden dropping the pick. It was bad. But Gaulden is playing with a busted left arm/shoulder and playing inside that front 7 a lot at 180 lbs. He's hitting RB's that weigh 30+ lbs. more than him while also being asked to cover quick slot receivers. He needs to play strong safety and gain 10 lbs. for next season.
Just one big hot mess this year. It's not been right since the first KO.
