I understand all the angst about our season but do some of you really believe it is on a level with Dooley? I'm truly asking, not trying to be argumentative.

If we had these results with Maybin, Sutton and the DT's being around the entire year, then I see the comparison. I know most of you are tired of hearing the injury excuse but have you honestly ever seen a team go through a season with this type of reduction without a fall off in production? GBO

Losing to Vandy and SC down the stretch with everything to play for is Dooley level bad.

UT had three great running backs with different skill sets. All three could have contributed. The coaches could have mixed it up and we could have gotten production from all three. Refusing to use Hurd in formations where he could best contribute, underusing Kamara-- who should have had many more carries-- and relegating JKelly to garbage time is a triple felony. The way this was managed was bound to lead to player dissatisfaction, and we're lucky it wasn't worse.

This to me is why Butch Jones should be fired.

Its one thing to lose games. Its another to lose because you mismanage the talent you have. The fact he was unable to find a way to utilize talents like Alvin Kamara and John Kelly before Hurd left should tell us all we need to know.

Butch is not the guy. PERIOD.

I can't believe people are even discussing Kiffin. He pooped on our program when he first left us. He has continued to do things to mock us and our program since he left. I never want to see that SOB here again.

Dooley never had 'everything to play for' in the first place.

Butch failed to deliver an SEC East title, and then he failed again to get us an inside track on a Sugar Bowl berth. Dooley failed to get us a berth of any sort.

This sucks, but Dooley he's not.

I hate how the Shoop hire worked out. It's just typical Tennessee.

Felt like we got a massive upgrade at DC and stole a promising coordinator from a struggling James Franklin/PSU team. Then PSU goes on to win 10 games and have its best season in years while Shoop's defense gets utterly embarrassed week after week and makes Vandy look like Baylor on offense.

Seems like any time we think we are getting an upgrade or something good is about to happen, it blows up in our faces.

The never-ending Vol nutkick.

Why is anybody discussing any possible replacements at all? We are stuck with the fraud. He ain't leavin and he ain't gettin fahred. We are doomed to suckitude for another half decade at least. How many of you guys have any faith whatsoever we win seven or more games next season? We will be lucky to win five.

Maybe in a vacuum, but it sounds like Janceks dismissal was for off the field matters, and it's tough to gauge from the outside the true impact his behavior may have had.

I'll crucify Jones for a lot of things, but not for swinging for the fences with Shoop.

One thing seems curious to me. I believe that Jancek has taken a few shots at us on Twitter when our defense has gotten gashed, yet, his son is still on the team as a Walk-on QB. It seems that if there were some bad blood between Butch and Jancek, that Jancek's son would not stick around. I don't know what it means, but I do find it curious.

Dooley probably would have at least beaten Vanderbilt.

Depends on what changes to his staff he makes in the off season. We should win 9-10 games next season.

Ive thought about that a lot. Has to be awkward.

Per Hubbs...

"Kippy Brown at QB club...was asked how much he disliked kiffin for leaving. He said nice things about kiffin and said that the reality is that right now kiffin would be a good fit for the Vols.

Kippy went on to say that according to people he has spoken to part of orgeron getting the job at lsu was that kiffin is joining him as his oc in Baton Rouge"

I have a lot of respect for Kippy, but I think Kiffin would still be a terrible fit. He kicked us dead in the jimmies after one year. He got us in trouble with the NCAA. His recruiting class was highly rated but actually contributed very little and many of them did not last more than a year or two. He has rubbed our noses in it while at Bama. He has a terrible record as a Head Coach. He has burned bridges almost everywhere he has been. No, no, no, a thousand times, no.

Then why does it feel worse? Talent is leaving..Recruiting sucks..and this staff cannot teach 3-4th year players how to do the most fundamental football skills. Next year will be Dooley level bad for sure.

It says a lot about Jancek's character.

I believe he will be here next year as well. Kind of wondering when the coaching carousel will begin spinning in earnest though.

Changes to the staff. LOL Who is Butch going to hire on a 1 year deal? It will be funny to watch it play out though. Fans trying to talk up low level position coaches to justify the hires. "Butch got this".

Butch is a dead man walking as coach. Waiting a year does nothing but waste the talent and assure not 1 but 2 subpar recruiting classes.

I never claim insider nor will I ever. I do have a friend that is connected with some former players. He states what we've all suspected that Butch has been unhappy and looking to get out, for longer than we all realize though. What caught me was he stated that he believed before the Vandy loss he would have been gone already to another program with an open HC spot, mainly Houston. The loss however hurt his stock. Stated his agent was working hard for him though.

**Again, let me preface by saying I claim to know no validity in this whatsoever nor am I claiming he is leaving and maybe all of this is just people talking and stirring stuff up. I do believe he is unhappy and whether fired or leaves 2017 is probably his last year**

The injuries absolutely hurt us, but SCAR and Vandy should have been wins despite the injuries. We had more talent on the field, even playing backups to backups. Most fans would have been content with the Sugar Bowl and ending the season ranked. That's making lemonade out of lemons. Finishing 8-4 or 8-5, unranked, tied with UGA and UK for 2nd in the SECE (UK!) and downgraded to a lower tier in-state bowl is just sour lemons.

How would you have thought the season would go if you knew in August that our top 5 leading tacklers would be:

1. TKjr
2. Abernathy
3. Gaulden
4. Jumper
5. Moseley

The silver lining is at least all of them will be returning next year.
