Those aren't the only coaches out there. Wait until after the conference championship games at least. They have O in the bag. Not going anywhere. They have time. This Administration is looking foolish.

And continue to strike out? That would have them looking foolish. They got a feeling for Herman and made their own decision.

What exactly do you mean when you say undone by malcontents? Fans or players?

If it's the latter, I'd say it's a coaches job to manage the team and the players he brings in.

If it's the former, I'd say if some fans grumbling is the reason he's failed to get this team to perform to their full potential then he needs to step down a few levels of coaching.


Injuries are a legitimate excuse (though I do think the defense shouldn't be performing quite as poorly as they have been) but regardless the USCe game was unacceptable. We were more talented than they were regardless.



As for Urban getting a pass for last year, that's true. But he also put a record number of players into the NFL draft and pulled in a top 5 recruiting class, so...

Loved that scene. :)

I personally believe it has become an LSU tradition to hire somebody that nobody understands as HC. Whether that is with communication skills or core competency. Les, DiNardo, Archer, and now O. Which is probably why Saban left, he couldn't get his Cajun speak on.

It could. The SEC is a meat grinder.

It could also mean the pockets are deeper. That place is loaded with cash. IMO it will be easier to dominate in the Big 12 than the SEC. He already has the recruiting pipeline built there. He knows how to coach uptempo. Just need to recruit enough top D players to slow the opponents enough to outscore them.

I was pleasantly surprised to see us listed at #9 on the ESPN recruiting rankings scrolling along the screen during Gameday this morning. I was under the impression that we were really struggling. That's what I get for just occasionally checking on the main board. Lots of sky is falling negatrons out there. I guess that's just the instant gratification world we live in now.

To be fair, it has a lot to do with the number of recruits we have committed. If our class were to stay the same, we'd drop quite a bit when other teams fill out their classes. I don't expect our class to stay the way it is right now though.

Actually I agree with you..I meant player malcontents, and I do think that is on Butch, but I think it is a lot more difficult problem to deal with than we understand. I hope he learned something from it, I really don't think he had any prior experience with dealing with prima donna types, and he handled it wrong this time. Urban has bad games, and relatively bad with much more LOADED teams and he gets a pass simply because he has won. If Butch will learn, he could win too.
