What are our insiders hearing?

I have heard that feelers are being put out by a certain group of UT boosters which includes some former players. Actually started last week, so not sure what's up with that. I didn't get that from UT folks, but from someone in another schools AD office.

LWSVOL said in another thread that he expects a mass exit with the coaching staff but that Butch will not be fired

I'm not worried about Butch getting fired, but I'm am worried about him leaving on his own to take a lesser job.

Until we quit digging through the bargain bin, we will always wind up with the used car salesmen of the CFB world.

Hope Solo should be our next HC. She has more fire than Butch.

He's coming back in 17 unless he leaves on his own. Too many so called 'better' coaches who had worse years. Freeze, Mullin, Kelly.
Hell, Herman, the hot name, lost to 3 unranked opponents.

The good news is UTs problem is obvious. Defense. Butch needs to fix it. It's not as if the teams who recruit against you don't have there own problems. UGA, UF, SC? Seriously?
Mullen has 1/3 of the talent butch has. He would kill it here with JG. I wouldn't hire les, even if he took a 1 dollar yearly salary

Texas just fired Strong after 3 seasons with a .43 win %. Butch after 4 seasons is I think .58 win %. If he were fired I'd hardly call that a knee jerk reaction, in modern NCAAF four seasons with your recruits is about it. If Knoxville can afford paying off alimony on ex coaches and get a top ten name it's going to cost a lot. I'd be ok with Les Miles running a multiple offense and hiring Charlie Strong to run the defense.

Ok, I'll bite. What's your connections and how connected are they?

It's not like a get a lot of insider info, especially when it comes to UT. This came from a casual conversation about college football over coffee this morning and they knew that I went to UT. The person that stated this is very high up in the AD office at another school, not an SEC school though.

He knows the UT boosters involved, named a few of them and actually played pro ball with one of the VFL's involved.

I saw in his press conference Ed Orgeron say he was going to assemble the best staff in America. Sorry Ed, that staff is already in Knoxville and they lose to South Carolina and Vandy in the same year.

Maybe Ed will take a few of them off our hands.

Butch and Bob don't get along. Bob thinks Butch is an idiot.

Butch is the same way with his players as he is behind a mic. Speaks in cliques, etc. the older players don't listen to him anymore, kinda make fun of him. This is why our teams personality has changed so much.
It must be just the defense then because you can't ask for more than the offense has given us since the SC game

Insiders have told me this thread is the usual post-loss nonsense.

Well, how would you rather us conduct ourselves after another 8-4 season losing to two of the worst teams in the SEC, squandering away a bid at an SEC championship appearance, or the sugar bowl for that matter? Oh and how about the great recruiting class coming in loaded with more top notch SEC talent that won't get developed?

This is fun, but in reality we're all just shouting at the dog here. Unless he quits, Lyle is back next year. No doubt he'll throw some of the coaches under the bus, so we'll get a(nother) new staff next season. Same old, same old. Lipstick on the pig.

Best bet, and best hope, is Blackburn. If he gets the AD job, the clock is ticking on the Lyle Jones Experiment. If Jones holds true to form, 2017 will be his undoing. And if Blackburn holds true to form, UT is back in Atlanta by 2020.

Go Vols.

Not that I want to defend Jones here, but it is the Pac12. It's like the SEC east downgraded.

Colorado's strength of schedule is currently 19 where as UT is 39. Vandy was in last place in the SEC east and won convincingly. We all knew midway through the 3rd quarter who was gonna win that game.

The SEC is Alabama and the 13 dwarfs. There isn't one team in the SEC, other than Alabama, that could win a Power 5 Conference championship.
