Wanted to get everyone's opinion on Urban Meyer. Having followed his career this is what I think of him.

He's a top 3 coach in college football for several reasons and "in-game" management isn't one of them. I believe Urban is the best recruiter in the game. I believe urban is top 5 when it comes to game planning. I believe Urban is top 2 when it comes to hiring very talented assistants and letting them work. Those three areas are why he is among the best at his profession. His weakness however becomes exposed when he loses his Dan Mullen or Tom Herman. Urban needs a top tier OC to win consistently. He doesn't have that now. When he lacks the top end OC he tends to lose games that he shouldn't and his teams perform poorly when the other team responds to their quick starts. Penn State hung around and won. His team struggled against 3 other opponents this year that made adjustments in game and Urban couldn't. This also happened to him at Florida when Mullen left.

Ohio State is winning this year on their superior talent and Urbans ability to game plan prior to kick off. If a lack of execution happens early in the game with Ohio State they are extremely beatable. Better get them now before he finds his next Herman.

Excellent..it us pretty much how I feel about him.

If Jones left, don't get any high hopes of the AD bringing in some big name. Period.

Our AD is laughable. Look at what has become of the women bball program. The men's is......well what it is.

The days of winning like when fulmer was here are gone, until they open up their pockets like other big time programs. You wanna roll with the big boys, gotta spend money like the big boys.

If something happened and butch left, we will bargain shop. Those who say we won't, maybe you just woke from a 10 year sleep.

Serious question? I see you have roughly 700 posts in 5 yrs yet it seems like 600 have come in the last week. Is this something we have to look forward to in the future?

Checking up on me, eh. Maybe. If that's a problem, a lot of people drone on about the ignore feature.

Gruden won the Super Bowl his first year with Tony Dungy's players and was eventually fired by the Bucs after 7 seasons.

He beat Callahan in the Super Bowl with Gruden's players, though. You could almost argue he could beat you with mine or beat you with yours, or whatever that quote is.

So, for the 90% of you who have clogged this thread with absolute garbage for the past 3-4 days, are you all planning on logging on tomorrow to b!tch that your turkey is too hot, your sweet potato casserole is too sweet, the pumpkin pie is too rich, etc.? Or will you just gripe about it with your family/loved ones in private? Just curious.

For the win!!

They're discussing it on midday 180 now..what happens if Florida beats FSU but loses to Alabama? Would we finish ahead of them?

Assuming we beat Vanderbilt.

I would say that UF would be ahead, unless they get boat-raced in Atlanta. Then, they still might.

I'm expecting CBJ to be at TN next season. But, if he decided to leave, why settle for Gruden. Go for Mike Tomlin...experience coaching in college and in the state of TN, 2 Super Bowl rings (1 as assistant at Tampa Bay), VA roots, and now only getting $500K more than Gruden.

Offer the man a $2 million raise, Peyton as OC and let the good times roll!:)

Why would Tomlin leave Steeler Nation and the Rooney's for this Roman Coliseum mob?

I generally agree with this. But at the same time... there was a drive against Kentucky where Croom took over the game as a blocker. He made multiple blocks on a play that went to the right for a big gain. Then a moment later, he did the same thing - multiple blocks on a TD run. I haven't seen Croom do that before.

I absolutely think Kelly and Kamara are better backs, especially in this system. But at the same time, I didn't see blockers dominating for Hurd like the above example. It's probably just because Hurd would miss the hole or get tackled before the blockers could set up, but I thought it was at least worth asking the question.

I think we don't have a good feel for how much grumpy pants affected the overall attitude of the offense, or how little either.

Excellent coach. In a hypothetical coaching search though, I wouldn't be disappointed if we started elsewhere.

Definitely would have been on board with him to replace Kiffin, but when he was looking to bring Roper and...Luke?... those don't fit the excellent recruiter profiles you mentioned.

Just so I know, did Kurt and Luke recruit well here?

Dunn wasn't on the SB team so hard to say Gruden got that benefit.

But if you want to take this tack, Gruden had his handprint all over his SB adversary, so the argument that Gruden only won with someone else's players is a bit self conflicting.

Well Gruden couldn't win the game for both teams 😉
And you're right ab Dunn.. guess we'll replace him with All Pro CB Ronde Barber they drafted

But I digress. I'm a Dungy fan and just recently read his book and it had a lot to do with his time in Tampa rebuilding the team.

Bored in Pittsburgh? Just kidding. He wouldn't. Nor do I believe Gruden would leave a cushy sports commentator job that pays $6.5 million for the stress of college coaching (I seriously wonder if he would take an NFL job at this point). Or, Peyton would take a coaching job. My guess is that he has his sights on a NFL GM/partial ownership role.

Just having fun and saying, if names are bandied about in rampant speculation, increase the pool of consideration.

Frankly, I look forward to moving ahead with CBJ, finishing the season with two more wins, the possibility of some changes with assistants/coordinator during the offseason, closing with a strong finish in recruiting and the countdown to next season.
