I agree, but you can tell when he is being aggressive and when he's not. The biggest example of this is when Dobbs runs. They were reluctant to let Dobbs run at times I.e. App State, Ohio, GA, Bama and SC. All of those games our offense struggled. In the other games Dobbs ran and we dominated offensively. That's the strange part and is part of the inconsistency.

The games against non SEC teams I firmly believe it starts from the top. Butch thinks we can just get by on pure talent alone. Which we should. That has been a trademark of Butch Jones from day 1.

Debord doesn't deserve to be fired or let go.. And I don't think he will. The offensive game plan starts from the top. Play calling is subjective, but debord has been very good and mediocre. Not a fire-able offense IMO

Too bad some of the Monday morning QBs on here can't be our coach.

They apparently know how to play and win with second and third string defensive players, with no true DTs, and with a constantly rotating OL. It's so simple, surely.

I get this point. But poor play is poor play.

Honestly I'd be higher on Butch as a coach if we were 7-4 right now and had played consistently good football and come up short this season. But instead we've seen many sloppy games with poor focus and/or execution.

Take the defense for example: in 2013 they got blown out a lot, but guys usually played disciplined and were in position, they just weren't athletically on the level of many opponents. THAT I can deal with. But that hasn't been the case this season.

These kind of comments are asinine. I am attached to a stable and successful program. Everyone wants to win, but some simply think putting severe pressure on the coach who has returned it to relevance is the way to go. I shutter to think what our program would do if a coach was forced to leave after improving his record every single year.

I hope he makes some changes, but my goodness, we have some whiny ass fans.

Asinine is Vol fans saying we don't deserve to have success if Butch is driven away. The football program existed before Butch got here and will survive after he leaves.

God forbid a coach at a major FBS football program should feel pressure.

The perceived differences between the FF & the RF has always been overblown but especially over the last year or so.

And just so I'm clear, I'm not defending the sanity of the FF by making that statement. They are as batchit as advertised.

This thread was designed as a safe space from the FF in the time before safe spaces were a thing. And then the FF started coming over here and it lost its safe space status. It is every bit as miserable now.

He's not as close to a sure thing though. Herman has all the makings of the next great coach. He will kill it at Texas if that is indeed where he goes. I'm not as confident Fleck could do the same

There are no sure things in finding the next great head coach. Not even Herman.

Asinine is complaining your way through a potential sugar bowl season.

If we got to and won the sugar bowl Butch should get consideration for coach of the year with everything we've endured. There's a lot of coaches that could have done a lot worse in these circumstances.

I don't think I've seen the RF this contentious after a win before. The FF is always nuts, but this forum has always been a haven of sorts. People get too high or too low from time to time, but largely there's a sense of reason that keeps this place from flying off the bars.

But I don't even know what some of you guys are arguing about. And worse, I don't think YOU know what you're arguing about in some cases. I think if you guys chilled for a minute, you'd realize that most of the people here are on the same page - or at the very least, within the range of understanding.

I don't get it, either. Everybody's basically agreeing that going to the Sugar Bowl would be very desirable and getting a nice win against a quality opponent there would end the season on a positive note. And yet... rampant hostility. Any attempt to inject a note of reason or levity is met with more hostility. Why all the bickering?

It sure did exist- worst stretch in our program's history.

I pretty much agree. Urban Meyer is one that everyone kind of knew would be great though and I get the same vibe from Herman especially if he gets the Texas job (arguably the easiest job in the country)

Remember when Muschamp was the Head coach in waiting at Texas? There are no sure things.

FF is much worse.

Most are on edge in general.. no matter the forum.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I was fairly content with this season until our SECCG hopes were dashed against SC.

Bryan Fischer
@BryanDFischer: Bednarik Award finalists: Jonathan Allen (Alabama), Myles Garrett (Texas A&M), Jabrill Peppers (Michigan)

It's a joke that Garrett sniffed the finalist list. He has not had a great year.

Hey, don't run the dude down. He had 4.5 sacks against the mighty and powerful UTSA.

Spread your wings and venture around the site. There's plenty calling for Butch.

Wrongfully, of course. But it's very much a thing.

I'll take your word for it. I tend to avoid threads that are overtly contentious. I'm all for learning from a civil debate, but some threads go far beyond that.

I think things like getting booed in the Tennessee Tech game shocked him. I think going 14-3 and still having so many dislike him is confusing to him.

-Hubbs on Butch.

He's gonna leave if he gets an opportunity, IMO.

Probably a good comparison. Herman definitely has a lot going for him. I'd be ecstatic if I were a Texas fan and ended up with him.
