Man, great analysis. Of course, nowhere in this subtopic is anyone talking about replacing Butch. My point is that money, not a message board- and no volssam, to reply to your post in this one as well- nor the vibe from the fans is going to determine a whether a coach will be taking a multimillion dollar job. There are other factors at play, like how big a rebuild it may be, location; but the fanbase is not one of them.
You need to become more familiar with your own program, though. UT may have the 6 million, but the next time they spend that will be the first time (even adjusting for inflation).
Butch and the Vols lost a game to South Carolina they shouldn't have lost. This is true, but....
Dabo and Clemson lost to Pitt
The great Harbaugh and Michigan lost to Iowa
The great Urbs and OSU lost to Penn state
Gus and Auburn lost to a bad UGA team
Kirby and UGA lost to vandy
Freeze and Ole Miss lost to vandy
Sumlin and A&M lost to Mississippi state
Fuente and VA Tech lost to Syracuse
Jimbo and FSU lost to UNC
Gundy and OK State lost to Central Michigan
The great Herman and Houston lost to Navy and SMU
The great Dantonio and Sparty has lost to everybody
It happens to literally every single coach. Without exception. It doesn't happen often to Saban but it happens.
But some fans want Butch gone or at least his seat to be flaming hot. And then in such a toxic environment, Butch's coachspeak gets blown out of proportion.
And y'all wonder why some big time coaches are wary of coming here.

Let's say we win out, including the sugar (or even citrus) and go 10-3, and finish around if not in the top 10
And let's say Florida loses their last three and goes 8-5, including losing to bama by 30, and finishes out of the top 25.
Players
Which would y'all say was better?
I don't think that's the issue. I think the issue is in his time here, he's lost numerous games he should have won in relation to winning games he should have lost.

Problem is you're comparing a lot of guys who have won a whole hell of a lot of championships to a guy who hasn't won jack squat. You get a bit more leeway when you have accomplished something. Also, a few of those guys are still sitting squarely in the college playoff picture right now.Butch and the Vols lost a game to South Carolina they shouldn't have lost. This is true, but....

When everyone has money, then money isn't the number one factor anymore cause you can get that anywhere that wants to win.
The other stuff is at play more than money at that point. That includes fan expectations, job security, expectations of program, roster, job difficulty, program potential etc.
Man I wish I lived in your world, where I had access to everyone's money whether they wanted to spend it or not.
Id be shocked if a coach at this level has ever, ever said that "Those fans expect too much, I'm not going there." Difficult administration to work with, I get it. But SEC coaches are so insulated from fan comments that it's not part of the day to day.
Maybe the coach in Waterboy.
Enough programs are out there that can outspend us.
Take this year for example. Texas LSU and Oregon are going coach hunting. Possibly notre dame. All of these programs offer a better situation for a coach even if we offered more money.
