The first of all you agreeing with Cat who quits on his team at least three times a game says it all. Second, Please enlighten us on how you would go about stopping the rush with what players we have left to play the DT position? No one on here never said it wasn't a issue but again please your so knowledgeable enlighten us since you have so much coaching experience. I would much rather be accused of pumping sunshine than the constant doom and gloom you and cat pump.

Where would you rank our current DT situation of the 128 FBS teams?

Rank in the SEC?

Rank of our last 10 teams?

Man, the QBs in the SEC suck.

That's not a shot on Dobbs, it's a shot on numbers two through whatever on that list. Wow.

missed my point on the rushing--- folks think we will just simply outscore our opponent and everything will be fine. Saturday is going to be pretty sobering for some folks on here when they see how difficult it may be to run up the score on Vandy.
Everyone can agree our secondary is awful. Moseley and others have clearly not improved and they are on their second and third year in the program. We have a class full of 3* recruits, while others in the East are gaining 4-5*... Most teams in the East will only improve next season, while we will be losing key players in key positions... This isn't gloom and doom, it is rational and factual observations. Butch and Co have gotten out-coached in many games this year against lesser opponents... yes, we ended up with the W in the end, but it was clear we were not prepared, came out flat, and had to come from behind and rally in the second half...again, facts. Hopefully Butch makes some tough decisions at the end of the season and replaces some staff who are simply just not getting it done.

Either that, or the defenses are tough. I agree that it is mostly a reflection of the mediocre QB play in the conference if your name's not Dobbs or Hurts.

Dobbs is playing well. He'd be #2 on this chart if Chad Kelly had stayed healthy. Kelly had 1600+ yards, 10 TD to only 4 picks in SEC games before he went out for the year.

If Dobbs can finish with another big game against Vandy he'll have a chance at 1st team All-SEC, but the Hurts hype train will probably prevent him from getting it.

I would put it at the bottom but not that far.

What year did we have the walk on stating at DT?

I don't recall that happening. It's happened at OL with the Sullins brothers in 09.

Obvious that you're reaching because you don't want the DT situation to be an excuse for Shoop.

Yes I will agree on the DB's being awful. As far as Vandy's offense, I don't think they are nearly as effect as KY nor Mizz. Now does Vandy have a good D, yes they do. But, our O is just as effective for them to have to stop. I don't think we will have to score 63 to beat Vandy cause I think we will stop their O more often. I do hope CJ makes the changes that are need after this season. We hung 63 points on Mizz one was a defensive score. As far as being out coached, he has out coached 8 of them so far. One he should have won that really hurt but there was more going on with the team with hurd there at the time. And oh, out scoring your opponent is what your suppose to do right? So really out scoring your opponent you win. You do want to win don't you?

That list, with an exception or two, is pure slaw. It would be slaw with Big 12 defenses.

Chicken or the egg time, but SEC defenses may appear to be so tough because the conference has 2-3 competent QBs. As usual, a combination of the two factors, but there are a lot of mediocre defenses in the SEC as well.

Chad Kelly is so overrated....

Judge Irwin made some comments yesterday on Hyams program that he thinks Barnett's play has been partially to blame for our troubles stopping the run. I'm paraphrasing but he basically was saying that Barnett was too focused on trying to get sacks every play and not filling his gap to help with the run game.

If that is the case, it seems like something Shoop and Strip should be able to correct. I want Barnett to get the record as bad as the next guy, but right now it is all hands on deck to stop the run.

This thread is really becoming a chore.

There are about five posters that really make it a slog and should evaluate why they watch football at all. There are others that are worse, but they don't post here as often.

There's another tier that dip into that group from time to time.

I'm not saying you have to agree with everything and be all sunshiny and happy with everything, but there is a time to agree to disagree. Also, if you are this consistently miserable over an entertainment source, what are you like in real world problems? Unsolicited advice: State your case, understand tact, and know when to move on.

If given a choice between a member of Legion of the Miserable and a sunshine pumper, I'll take the UV hit every time.

QB in the SEC may be a bright spot going forward tho. JG, Eason, Bentley, Hurts, Patterson Franks. That position is going to be better. Drew Locke is also improving

I think the biggest difference in the SEC is that the gap between the quality of DL vs OL is greater than other leagues. I'd argue that OL play across Power 5 conferences is comparable, but DL play in the SEC is head and shoulders better than what you see in every other league. That factor alone drives QB production down in the SEC.

It's almost like we live in a world where different people have different opinions.

Mind. Blown.

Half of those guys will end up being mediocre. Hurts is great at what he does but when he throws under slight pressure, bad things happen. Eason has a million dollar arm, but he needs to get better at playing the QB position.

Someone said it here best the other night- Patterson needs a cut off man.

We have no way of knowing how good JG and Franks will be. I suspect Franks not playing a snap this year might indicate where he's at with how bad their QBs are.
