Trump says Pence needs a safe space

Also: You should work closer with actual definitions so as not to be so self-contradicting:

It was political satire, which is political criticism, which makes it "media" in the broad sense.

It wasn't really contradicting in the case of SNL. Their method of satire isn't for the purpose of criticism as much as it is the pursuit of humor... In no way, is SNL a part of the media. They are comedians.

Exactly. They basically stopped their production to ask him loaded questions that assumed he is a racist POC. It was kind of a "So, have you stopped beating your wife?" grandstand.

It was during the curtain call; show was over. No questions were asked. It was a thank you and statement. All respectful. The concerns expressed were not some startling new revelation, and I think we all see how divided our country is at this time. Kudos to the cast for keeping it so respectful and hopeful. After all it was Broadway and Pence's history on GLBT issues is troubling to many people. I realize that is not the case with many on this forum, but some Americans have concerns with conversion therapy and legalized discrimination. It could have been a very offensive situation, but the cast did not take it there.

I've included the transcript below as I think there is some serious misunderstanding of what actually took place.

Thank you so much for joining us tonight. You know, we had a guest in the audience this evening. And Vice President-elect Pence, I see you're walking out but I hope you will hear us just a few more moments. There's nothing to boo here ladies and gentlemen. There's nothing to boo here, we're all here sharing a story of love.

We have a message for you, sir. We hope that you will hear us out. And I encourage everybody to pull out your phones and tweet and post because this message needs to be spread far and wide, OK?

Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us here at Hamilton: An American Musical, we really do. We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us — our planet, our children, our parents — or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us. All of us.

Again, we truly thank you for sharing this show. This wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men [and] women of different colors, creeds, and orientations.

They aren't the "media" in exactly the same way that "The Daily Show" isn't the "media". As in, they are pushing a narrative in an effort to sway people's minds. Sadly, our country has been stupid enough to let SNL and TDS shape their political thoughts for too long.

That's ridiculous. SNL doesn't 'sway people's minds' or shape political thoughts. You either watch it if you think their brand of humor is funny or you don't watch it. Nobody watches SNL for enlightenment.

BS, sir. You've clearly omitted the part of the speech were there was a rude, partisan ambush style attack that warranted this outrage.

A couple thoughts:

1. Trump doesn't care. Someone takes a shot at him, he takes one back. I'm sure he gives 2 craps about the cast of Hamilton. He's not stewing over this. They took a shot, he takes a shot.

2. I agree with Little Steven, this was inappropriate by the cast of Hamilton.

3. Remember the outrage at the "you lie". How dare he? Imagine if Obama was at a concert and he got called out - would be a national outrage with cries of racism.

This country is going nuts.

Oh my God.

A congressman in the State of the Union, calling the president a liar, is INFINITELY worse than this minor event.

It was a condescending speech. They don't think he'll uphold their inalienable rights? Seriously? It was typical liberal banter disguised as polite advice.

Yes.

It was nothing fir Trump to get upset about, but it was ridiculously stupid. It just reminds us of how retarded liberals are.

It's too bad Trump spent any time responding to those whining d-nozzles.

That said, their message at the end was unnessecary and uncalled for. If I were their boss I would have reminded them they are there to dance around and play make believe on stage for the enjoyment of their customer: the audience.

This is just an extension of the generation raised on facebook and twitter who are used to feeling it imperative that everyone know what they think, how they feel, and what is for dinner. Who cares?

If I pulled a stunt like that in my first job I'd be lucky not to be axed the next morning.
