This is yet another example of how Trump is hypersensitive and has to respond to every perceived slight or critique. He can't just simply be above the fray and take the high road even when it's over something as frivolous as this. It's also strange that someone so reluctant to give apologies (he never apologized for mocking the disabled journalist) can be so adamant in demanding them from others. I fully expect we'll be getting tweets at 3 in the morning next year the first time a diplomat criticizes their accommodations at his hotel near the White House. He is just that petty.

An SNL skit isn't even criticism. It's satire. Most Presidents are capable of laughing right along with it. George H.W. Bush loved Dana Carvey's impression of him and even invited Carvey to a White House banquet. Trump takes it personally.

A couple thoughts:

1. Trump doesn't care. Someone takes a shot at him, he takes one back. I'm sure he gives 2 craps about the cast of Hamilton. He's not stewing over this. They took a shot, he takes a shot.

2. I agree with Little Steven, this was inappropriate by the cast of Hamilton.

3. Remember the outrage at the "you lie". How dare he? Imagine if Obama was at a concert and he got called out - would be a national outrage with cries of racism.

This country is going nuts.

It's entertaining watching LG's metamorphosis. From twisting himself into a pretzel defending Obama and getting worked up over any perceived slight to Obama....to getting worked up over the guy who's not even in office yet.

I disagree with that. Anyone who says SNL is "biased" and calls for "equal time" is more sensitive than they should be. Why can't he just ignore it and take the high road. "Fahrenheit 911" was a legitimate attack against George W. Bush and obviously very biased but he never responded to it or went after Michael Moore. GWB ignored it and it went away. Trump has to respond to every stupid little thing.

I thought the Hamilton cast was extremely respectful in their CC comments. It was nowhere near an attack or harassment. It actually presented Trump/Pence a great opportunity to assuage some of the expressed concerns in an equally respectful manner. To VP-elect Pence's credit he did just that earlier today, and good on him for it. Trump? Not so much.

The cast's supposed grievance was that they fear not being represented by this administration. That would have been the worst message he could have come back with. Obama is gone; it's time for someone who will unite instead of divide.

Trump is not an idiot. He knows that a huge backlash against the Dems was the fact that it was shown that the media was in their pocket. He's pressing that to maintain and grow his base.

SNL is not the media. Trump needs to either get a sense of humor and not always take himself so seriously and learn how to laugh at himself (he is a former SNL guest host after all) or learn to take the high road and ignore it. This wasn't even criticism, it was satire.

I don't think it's sensitivity as much as it is the Trump brand and the Trump style.

It's an approach.

message was less of an issue than the venue.

It wasn't harassing but it began with an assumption Pence was bad and maybe the show would help him be less bad.

the booing didn't help.

I can't help imagine what the reaction would be if Obama was at a concert and the band made some comments they were scared of what he'd do to the country.

They aren't the "media" in exactly the same way that "The Daily Show" isn't the "media". As in, they are pushing a narrative in an effort to sway people's minds. Sadly, our country has been stupid enough to let SNL and TDS shape their political thoughts for too long.

Exactly. They basically stopped their production to ask him loaded questions that assumed he is a racist POC. It was kind of a "So, have you stopped beating your wife?" grandstand.

It was political satire, which is political criticism, which makes it "media" in the broad sense.

If you're right, I don't think it's a wise approach to take as President of the United States. The brand of the Presidency of the USA is stronger than the Trump brand. Using "Fahrenheit 911" as an example, it faded from the public consciousness pretty quickly after initially being a big hit in the summer of 2004. It would have lingered much longer if GWB had attacked Moore and shown that it had angered him. Now that Trump is going to be President, people will be pushing his buttons from all directions and he needs to learn to take the high road. He will only give life to those who wish to serve as distractions by continuing to respond to everything like this.
