We rarely have the most dynamic, motivated player on the court in each game. Astounding. Opposing players still want to play their best against the Lady Vols, but we don't have the guts and determination to combat complacency. Sad.

So now they want to play with "intensity" with the game out of reach? Who is holding our players accountable for energy and focus?

This game was just pathetically bad. Penn State 70 - Lady Vols 56. No defense. Horrible shot selection. No rebounding. It's going to be a long year.

Penn State may not be a ranked team but cannot miss tonight. Lady Vols have their work cut out for them this season if this game is any indication.

The new recruits -- I hope they come in with a fire to compete. We need fire. There's a whole nation of fans that'll be behind them every step of the way, but we need to see some fire on the court. It's like Coach Popovich said to the Spurs a few years ago - "I need a little nasty out there." And we need a little nasty out there, too.

The coaches, not the players should be forced to go into the locker room and finish watching UConn beat up on LSU at their place to see how real coaches coach.

This game was all about shooting we missed a lot of easy shots horrible from the three. Defense was weak an all around terrible game for us and one we should have been able to win.

It's hard to win when you can't shoot. 31%, and 11% from behind the arc. Nared and Russell were the only two who put the ball in the hole. The rest of our guards/wings were collectively 8-38. We played even or beat them in every other category.

Russell only got tougher after halftime. DD was as worthless as a wet sponge as well. Middleton is back to earth and not a dam soul can stop a scorer

31% from the floor versus 40% for PSU.

10% from 3PT vs 50% from PSU.

80% from the FT line (I remember when we used to average 65-70% so I smiled at that one).

UT outrebounded PSU (it should have) but not by much. 45 to 40.

UT had more Assists than PSU.

UT had more Steals than PSU.

UT and PSU tied on turnovers.


Probably should have had more rebounds, something like 50-35 with their size. Definitely needed better shot selection and shot generation, and needed to stop trying to take that zone one-on-one. Hopefully they learn from it.
