"injuries deprived florida of three of its best defensive players against lsu. Its starting quarterback and center also were out with injuries. But it somehow managed to beat a more talented lsu team on its home field.

When ut coach butch jones was asked about the east title that got away, he responded predictably. "we just want to be 1-0 each week," he said.

The vols celebrate going 1-0. The gators celebrate going to the sec championship.
Jones delivers another catchphrase. Florida coach coach jim mcelwain delivers another divisional title."

38-28

It depends on the defense. If they have 10 men on the Los you do it until they back off.

You have seen the 11 games. Give me a number.

If you think there should be 5 plays over 20yds in every game then you are correct we aren't stretching the field. Neither is any team in the country for that matter

Just trying to see what your expeditions are instead of arguing a point that the criteria isn't set for.

IMO if a team is competing 2-3 passes per game to its WRs 20 yards or more then they are doing a great job.

They had their top 3 players out.

Would be the equivalent of missing JRM, Barrett, and Kirkland.

The missing pieces are comparable. Not much difference IMO

Don't show your ignorance...Tabor, Wilson, Brantley are their top 3 players and they haven't missed any pt

Those who watched the game yesterday know that Florida was supremely lucky. Did they make stops at goal line when it counted, sure. LSU botched what was basically an extra point field goal. However Florida still pulled out the win in Baton Rouge.

Bama will be the equalizer. TN enters every season with a half game disadvantage over the rest of east with Bama on schedule.

LSU was a perfect opponent for UF to be down 3 players because their offense is not dynamic. But LSU still made it inside the 10 yard line and couldn't score. We are going to have to hear about Shoop for the next 10 months. May be time for a break soon.

I disagree with this take slightly. It took Fulmer 5 seasons to win the SEC East. He came into a much better situation than butch with no need to rebuild. Still took him 5 seasons before he ever won the division. And he ended up getting a national title soon there after. If the fan base had made some final determination that Fulmer was never going to get it done after year 4 that would have been premature.

Butch has done more than Fulmer at this point in his tenure considering what he started with. From where we were to where the program is now, i am not even willing to listen to any conversation that even mentions that Butch Jones has a reason to worry about his job. Stability is what this program needs. Let's see how the next few seasons play out. I for one believe Butch will win the SEC in a year or two.

Close out this season 9-3 with a bowl win and recruiting will close strong.

Mid 90's Florida was okay at football.

I like the self confidence a lot of folks on here have going into next week, but did you actually watch some of the Vandy Ole Miss game last night? Vandy was NOT Candy last night and looked like a team focused and peaking at the right time. They beat a team that is definitely down right now, but has a healthier D than we do and definitely a better secondary. They only need one more win to legitimately go bowling and the game is in their backyard-- they smell blood seeing how porous our D is right now and will be playing with more on the line than us actually.
Yes, the theme on here last night and this morning is "they will score 40, but we will score 60".... I get that, but Vandy's D is worlds better than Mizz. We will not be able to score at will on these guys like we have the past two games. I really think this will be a nail biter considering their running AND passing attack is on fire right now. Our DB's/secondary better put in some basic middle school work this week and work on angles, tackling, and Lord baby Jesus quit playing 15 yds off the WR and turn their head and track the ball. I think we sneak out the back gate Saturday 38-31.
Shoop better bring in some help to advance our secondary play for next season or it will be ugly and we will see 12 games of what we saw back there last night.
Sidenote--- That interception and TD from Kongbo last night will be enough to have this kid on cloud 9 for the remainder of the year and into next season.
