Butch: "Mark my words..."

The very best part of all of this is that it started with a Florida win...over LSU! CBJ's performance is unaffected by the results of another game. If you were going to call for his head, do it after the USCe game. If you're going base everything on the UF-LSU game, fire Orgeron. Or, be rational.

Exactly. It's called playing the results. Op is just an ***hole

"...there's a lot of football yet to be played."

Those were Butch's words following USCe, probably the worst loss of our decade of mediocrity. Well, as is often the case w/ Butch, these ended up just being another meaningless phrase in the year in which it was supposed to all come together.

Anyone who believes this season is anything other than a total failure is delusional. We couldn't even win the SEC East when it's at its worst in a generation, perhaps ever.

Now, much of our talent (those who haven't already left) will be moving on, & Jones has a stable of 3*'s replacing them. This was the year & he blew it by not having his team ready to play a truly awful USCe team with two weeks to prepare.

Time to rip off the band aid, move on, & hire Kiffin. And no, I'm not kidding.

Man... I honestly believed I had already heard the most moronic thing on here last week... then along comes someone else to compete for the title... If you feel so intensely about this... feel free to start calling yourself a fan of another team... in football, & in life for that matter, things rarely go as smoothly as we plan, when things don't go exactly as planned you don't become a whiny 3 year old who simply pisses & moans... you get up dust yourself off & GROW & LEARN HOW TO BECOME BETTER from the experience. If this is how you react to setbacks... please stop being a Vol fan!

How? Is it his job to ready the team? That is something Butch has failed at all year. Is it his job to stop a high school quarterback? Is it his job to call plays.

It's on Butch. Butch needs to go, yesterday.

All year?? I seem to recall beating Florida for the first time in 11 years this year... I also recall a thrilling win in Athens... really don't understand the entitlement... we lost a few games... 1 or 2 we prob'ly shouldn't have... the team just has to learn from those & I would say they have... please, if all you're gonna do is whine because we're not undefeated, go join another fan base.

Y'all can poo poo it all you want, but Kiffin is getting another SEC job, & will do well. Anyone who thinks sticking with Lyle for another year, firing him, & starting all over again is a better option than hiring a guy who is a proven QB genius & grown as a coach over last 4 years is an idiot.

QB genius?!? How many of the QB's from his head coaching stent at USC are currently playing in the NFL?? Oh wait that's right, zero... How many of the QB's he has coached at Bama are currently tearing up the NFL??? Yup, it's zero again... honestly, w/ the statements I've read from you this far you're sounding much like a lot of teenagers I know, think they know everything, unwilling to accept instruction & completely wrong 99% of the time...

I was with you until "hire Kiffin" haha.

His staff here was excellent, and recruited and coached well, for the most part. But he's a sociopath; I don't see him as a long-term answer.

He coached Kessler at USC, so that's one. He also got Crompton drafted and had Blake Sims playing well

How many times does this have to happen before people start to notice a pattern? How often do we WIN games against better teams?

Drafted yes, but tearing up the NFL no... if they had worked w/ a "QB genius", then they should be tearing it up because of the vast knowledge that was imparted to them...

You really are 10

Probably just another Ahole with nothing good in her life. She needs the team she pulls for to win so she can be happy for 5 minutes.
Most of the human garbage becomes Bama fans (or whoever is winning at the time) but unfortunately there's enough of these morons that we have a few that attached themselves to us. I feel bad for her really.
(I'm assuming she's a she because I've never met a man this b!tchy)

It happens everywhere, for the most part, this year alone several "major" programs have dropped games they shouldn't have. I for one have enjoyed watching the Vols under Jones. They have some fight that I haven't seen since the late 90's... I truly believe they are on the cusp of something very special & a lot of so-called fans need to let go of the fact it hasn't happened on their timetable. Are there areas for improvement, absolutely! However, I don't believe firing the head coach to be the answer... There's something to be said for consistency. Would you rather have some flash in the pan who builds 1 really good team every 4 - 6 years, or a consistent leader, who while it takes time on the front end to get all the pieces right, works & builds toward consistently competitive teams?

He doesn't have to put players in the NFL. He just has to dominate with them in college which he does. I guess Urban isn't a QB guru with Tebow, Cardale/Barrett with 3 national titles either.

We are not Florida. We don't have the talent base that they do. McElwain got more 5* recruits in his first recruiting class than Butch has in 4. Is it bc McElwain is a great recruiter? No, it's bc both recruits grew up UF fans and dreamed of playing there. There are 20 million people living in Florida, 6.5 million in Tennessee. More people = better odds of having freak athletes. Florida will always have this advantage over us

Florida also doesn't have Bama on the sched every year.

They have LSU. That's a wash.

You're not serious are you? You do realize that bammer has won 4 national championships since Mile limped to one with a two loss team in 2007? That bammer has beaten them 6 in a row, including an embarrassing shut out in 2011 in the NC game? That bammer is recruiting no. 1 in the country year in year out, while in the last 4 years, LSUs average rank is 5th?

How can those two even begin to compare?
