A Florida win does not change how good we are. We should not have to rely on other teams to lose to meet our expectations. Was this season disappointing? Yes. But it was even if Florida would have lost, it's not a complete failure just cause Florida won😂

Yeah you're still struggling here. I'm not sure what you were trying to convey in the bolded part. Maybe try taking some deep breaths and having your little cousin proof read for you or something.

If you were saying we couldn't win the east and end up with 5 losses, then you're wrong. 9-3 + 1 loss to Bama + loss in the Citrus Bowl = 9-5. Math, bro.

I never said that getting to Atlanta isn't better than the alternative. Your poor reading comprehension led you to infer that I did.

All I've been saying is that a 10-3 season most likely gets spun more positively than a 9-5 season where we lucked into Atlanta. If you want to disagree with that, try engaging the argument I've made instead of engaging the argument you wrongly inferred that I made :stop:

Ok, I overlooked the hypothetical Citrus Bowl loss. My bad on that. Was more focused on the actual championship vs. no championship then working out the records.

Still saying it's a crap argument. It may get spun that way-especially here- but my argument remains the same. I would take the SECE championship. In either premise, we have the same 9-3 record at the end of the year, and who knows, a win over Alabama could really flip the script. Yes, itd be near impossible, but you have to play the games. Also think you are using faulty logic when supposing a win in the Sugar Bowl yet chalking up a loss in the Citrus Bowl. We would likely face a much better team in the Sugar.

I'm sorry, I totally understand what you are saying, I just think it's an ineffective argument given what you've stipulated. Sure, some will spin it as better. It's BS. In both hypos, we'll be standing at 9-3 on November 27th. Give me the one where we play in Atlanta every. Single. Time.

Had Sutton and Jrm gone pro, Hurd transferred, DKjr getting hurt preseason and expected to miss every important game, would the expectations still have been
10-2 at minimum and an SEC east title? Idk

Well it's brutally obvious that we were force feeding Hurd to feed his ego. That coaching decision alone may have caused dissension among the team. Hurd not being on this team may have been the key to success ironically.

Yea, but non of the fans or media knew that before the season. Had he transferred expectations would have been different imo

However it would have been beneficial for the team

Yep, I've made this exact same point to friends. One of the biggest mistakes Butch made for this season may have been giving Hurd the bait and switch with all the I formation stuff in the bowl game. Tell him then that nothing changes and if he has a problem then he can walk, and this season may have looked different. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but it's just interesting how things work out.

Good teams like App state, Ohio, and Georgia?

Georgia is the only one I remember running all over our team early and they have a pretty good running game, so yeah. You can't judge him based on this year, period. The injuries and mystifying lack if depth has cost this defense tremendously. Our defense shut most teams down after a quarter or so (which I admit, was still frustrating as hell) until they were gutted so while I don't like what I'm seeing, we need a more accurate representation if what this defense can actually be.

"Never heard me talk about it. Never heard the players talk about it." Butch on people talking about winning the East as a goal.

There’s nothing wrong with admitting not winning SEC East is disappointing. I just don’t understand Butch sometimes. Doesn’t help himself.

Wow...this is just asinine to say. He really is full of himself.

As to the Hurd situation, it just had to play out. Hindsight is always 20/20. We had offensive explosions against Va. Tech, Florida, Georgia and Texas A & M. What we are seeing down the stretch is lesser competition and an offensive line that has improved.

A 10-3 season is in fact improvement. Hope we can get there and Butch holds fast to the trajectory.

Recruiting is going to have to improve dramatically this year for that trajectory to continue its upward path. He's a closer. I don't get bent out of shape with Butch and recruiting early. Dude flat out kills in January

The goal EVERY year should be East /SEC champion.

You win the SEC you play for the National Championship.

Butch is trying to not sound disappointed.

Butch HAS to keep the team focused on winning...that is what he is trying to do. This season still has potential to end on a really good note. This fan base is 60% idiot. If they lose next week because they come out bummed out because they didn't win the east, then THAT would be a disaster. I get what he is doing. Everybody just wants to dump on the man..I wish he would just tell all of us to "Piss off, I've still got a big job to do, and save this season" Anybody that really believes he is not disappointed, is a freakin moran.

On another note, what great era the Dobbs' era has been. It just seems like yesterday when folks were waking up to the fact that the dude has some wheels.

Quote taken out of context I believe.
