But they are now...because our D-Line is mostly getting pushed around. That isn't scheme, that's having 275 lb DTs. It's pretty obvious that injuries have severely hampered any chance we had of being a good defense. The good teams we played we played weren't doing this to us when we were healthy but the bad teams are now...so its pretty damn obvious what's going on here. Shoop is having to try and make chicken salad out of chicken ****.

No, whether or not we should have the depth to not be in this position is another matter.

Good teams like App state, Ohio, and Georgia?

He was terrible in the game that lost the east. He was good enough before and has been great since, but there's just no denying that the offense's performance against SC cost us the east.

Conversely, they're also the reason we've won the last two games.

Yep

That aspect of his personality would fit perfectly in the NFL. Most coaches in the league are like that. Fisher used to drive me nuts with that crap.

Butch seems to take any question with negative connotations personally. That's why I think he would struggle with PCs in the league.

He was bad vs USC and so was the rest of the team but the east was lost vs A&M where if the defense was worth its salt would have held A&M under 35

I just hope we don't inexplicably extend him. I'd understand if we gave him a slight raise, but we don't need to tack on years to his contract (and thus money to his buyout). Would be making our next AD basically stuck with Butch regardless of performance for the next 2-3 years.

I agree. These golden parachutes have to stop.

He has earned it. We're going to win 9 games regular season this year. Has a chance to win 10 games! When's the last time that happened? He ended the streak to Florida! And he has done this with more injuries than I've ever seen a team endure. He had a bad loss this season. It's terrible, but Dobbs played really bad that game and of course the Hurd drama behind the scenes clearly affected he team. Other teams have bad losses also. See Michigan and Clemson. But much has vastly improved this program and as long as we continue getting better, he deserves to stay. I believe without all the injuries that this team would have finished 11-1

Agree. The year that Butch doesn't hit realistic expectations with a full roster without an insane amount of injuries, then we can talk change. Even with the injuries, if the offense doesn't go turnover crazy, then the VOLS are 10-2 and going to Atlanta. Even with the injuries, the VOLS could have beaten USCe and been 10-2 and going to Atlanta. This team was close and I know that we're angry and upset, but would we really be so negative if Florida would have lost? At this point, Alabama would do unholy things to the defense. I firmly believe that apart from injuries and Hurd drama, there's a real chance the VOLS are 11-1 and playing for a lot. But, they aren't. And Butch doesn't give the sound bites we want, but if he's cut loose now, then who do we hire? I don't believe that in a season competing against Texas, LSU, and possibly Notre Dame that we'd get the hottest coach out there. Add to the fact that our AD is on the way out, I'm not sure we would get in on even a decent coach at this point.

Sorry it's so long, but let's have some perspective on the entire year. It seems like that sense the A&M game that everyone forgot everything that happened before it.

I get that the D was not good in the second half but cut the turnovers in half and we win by a few scores. JKelly fumble going in, Croom gift as we were driving, Kamara strip going inside 10, etc.

LOL shut the front door Bruin, you're senile.

With how good you are at inventing narratives, you should be spending your time helping GRRM finish his books instead of posting here.

Last week, even the three of the top four lost games to some pretty crap teams, so...

Dobbs worst game by far was SC, but he's been great quarterback for the VOLS over all. I'm going to miss him.

The defense played good enough to win against SC. The whole offense was bad.

Sorry, but you're just wrong about A&M. Our defensive depth had already taken a hit at that point, and the offense just kept putting them back on the field.

He had one loss that cost us all of our goals. Good teams have games like that. No excuses though. That loss is the difference between playoff hunt and Citrus Bowl.

He's not on the hot seat at all. He will get a raise like every year they show improvement. No way Hart should extend him being a lame duck AD though.

We'll have a new AD before contract talks begin.

Exactly. Most coaches in the NFL seem to take negative questions personally. Fisher couldn't stand to be questioned about anything at all. I see that in almost every NFL press conference.

Had Sutton and Jrm gone pro, Hurd transferred, DKjr getting hurt preseason and expected to miss every important game, would the expectations still have been
10-2 at minimum and an SEC east title? Idk

Nah man any defense should be able to overcome a -4 turnover differential and win games for an offense struggling to finish on the road.

Just don't bother with him. If it doesn't fit his narrative, it isn't true.

It's Bruin's crazy world and we're all just living in it.
