I think you are just explaining it, and don't really believe it, but this is such a defeatist mentality. The championship is ALWAYS better. Everyone remembers that Florida won the East last year; I had to Google what bowl they went to. I suspect that by next weekend, if someone asked me, I'd have to google it all over again.

Really all this "narrative" is is a way to rationalize not meeting expectations.

I'm not justifying it. I was just saying what people will say in regards to Butch in those cases. Wasn't saying I think that is how it should be looked at. Just the narrative that will be made. IMO he would get more flack if he ended 9-5 than 10-3 even, right or wrong.

Screw all of y'all that consider the season a failure. Definitely feel that the Legion of the Miserable is sucking all the joy from what VN has been in previous seasons.

I'm with you here. Dont know that I can recall a defense this depleted. Proud of this team and plan to enjoy the last 2.5 games we have this season.

In a weird way I think the UF win might end up making Butch look a little better at the end of 2016. We'll get an easier bowl opponent and a good chance at finishing 10-3.

If we got to Atlanta and played in the Citrus or Sugar bowl, then 9-5 looks like a very possible outcome.


10-3 narrative: one bad loss but with all the injuries and Hurd drama not a terrible season.

9-5 narrative: we only got to Atlanta because UF choked and we obviously aren't on ththe same level as top opponents.
