SC would smash Penn st? You cant be serious?!

You think Penn State is good? This is the Big 10 dude. Don't let the media hype from one year fool you. These are the same dudes who got smashed last year during bowl season. Especially by SEC teams.

Remember we smashed #13 Northwestern. Alabama smashed #3 Michigan State. Georgia let up in the end but they dominated Penn State last year in the Tax Slayer bowl. And so on.

Only Michigan outplayed an SEC opponent (Florida). And I can't say I was disappointed to see that.

The Big 10 is overrated and will get exposed in bowl season.

Frustrating to see/hear issues still coming out that should not be happening with an experienced HC with 10 plus years of coaching.

Bringing in an OC that was out of football for years, the Hurd situation, not allowing Shoop to bring in some of his own assistants on D, being so damn stubborn and not playing the best players (Kamara/Kelly and where is Warrior?) All in the past 2 years.

Just mind baffling....maddening to say the least.

I told ya'll Butch Jones was the only thing that could derail our season.

He's simply a bad coach. Great recruiter. But bad coach.

Tennessee will never reach its full potential as long as he's the man in charge. This program needs a closer. A guy who can take over and build on the foundation Jones has created.

Dobbs as a WR is a new angle.

Dobbs could play WR if he wanted. He's incredibly athletic and has phenomenal body control. Remember that tight rope act he did in the bowl game against Northwestern?

However, he'll be a starting QB in the NFL. I personally don't know why others can't see it. But I'll be shocked if he isn't as successful in the NFL as Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott.

Abernathy is playing with injuries and giving us everything he has. Warrior gets lost in coverage and has a tendency to give up the really big play---TD's. Dude can hit though.

Warrior has blown ONE assignment.

Abernathy has been blowing running lanes/giving up TDs since week 1. All this playing hard is to be expected. You've got to produce at this level. Abernathy literally has trouble with anyone breaking to him in the secomdary. He couldn't even tackle Trevor Knight one on one. Knight isn't just shifty. He's got decent speed but I expect a safety at Tennessee to tackle him.

Dobbs turnovers haven't helped either.

From the post on 247 that BO91 shared: I want to know why TN won't pay a HC $6 million, especially if it's a homerun hire? Are we saying that our program is not on the level of Bama or OSU? With all of the money that the programs are making from the SEC network, we should be able to afford that.

Btw, I'm only curious what others thoughts are...I'm not saying I want a new coach. I want Butch to be very successful here, but if things don't work out or if he chooses at some point to take a shot at the NFL, then I want to know why we won't try to make a big hire.

IMO there just aren't many coaches that are truly worth 6-10 million.

Just as a hypothetical let's say it took $6 million to get Herman to come here. I would be happier with paying someone like Fleck, Barbers, etc that we could probably get for around $4 million and use that other $2 million to increase the assistant salary pool.

I think the only way we end up paying that much for a coach is if it's someone that's been here and they earn it through raises.

I agree we can theoretically pay that now. But my fear is that this is a bubble, and bubbles pop, often to painful effect.

Definitely not something we should do arbitrarily. It would have to be someone like a Jim Harbaugh. I'm not even sure Jon Gruden would deserve that kind of money because, let's face it, he hasn't coached in far too long and he's been out of the NCAA for even longer.

I'm not sure anyone is out there right now who would demand that kind of money...

Unless Chip Kelly wants to return to CFB.

I'd pay him 8 or 9 mil.

He didn't watch Dobbs in 2 of our three losses.

Yeah Butch should've just ran the ball but Dobbs as a senior QB is crazy with the ball.

That's been one of the more surprising things to me this season. Dobbs decision making has taken a step back. Maybe he's trying to do too much

Hopefully we see Abernathy at Corner and have Warrior at Safety next year, but that makes too much sense.

And it was on a dumb all out blitz on third and long

So is it coaching holding him back then in your estimation? Because if he doesn't get more consistent and make better reads, he'll never be successful at the next level.

SIAP, Barnett left off the Nagurski finalist list.
2 Alabama players (Jonathan Allen, Reuben Foster)
1 Clemson (Christian Wilkins)
1 FSU (Tavarus McFadden)
1 Michigan (Jabrill Peppers)

Another robbery. Best defensive lineman in college football and has been ignored mostly until this year, and is still. Ring ignored by some. I've never even heard of those guys from Clemson and FSU

Fyp. :)

If it wasn't for Dobbs' legs, he would not be the starting QB as he is not much of a passer. That doesn't fly in the NFL. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for what he's done for our program, but he's not an NFL caliber QB. He would need to change positions if he wanted to play on Sundays.

🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯

What I gather from reading that is Debord is going to be here next year but Shoop gets to bring in his people which is good. Also, we are getting a QB coach with a OC tag I believe he said. Be interesting to see how that works if debord is still here. Was hoping for a new OC/QB to run the O. I am thinking a new O-line coach would be good.

Same reasons Florida and Georgia didn't.

I don't think most programs are ready to take that step. But with the immediate success Saban Meyer and harbough have had they may not have a choice.

I have thought if Butch failed big time down the stretch here and totally blew next season, our hand might be forced.

I personally don't expect that from Butch - I like him and think he will continue to be successful. If we win the east this year he has done a remarkable job managing through injuries and adversity IMO.

Harbaugh still hasn't won a dang thing..jeez you harbaugh groupies tick me off
