Hate to go back to 3 days ago, but this has been bugging me, and I don't know where else to post it without getting lost in the drivel.
Anyone feel the Hurd situation was a bigger distraction than seemed thru the bye and usc game? Granted, we should probably beat USCjr sleepwalking, but they are an sec team, it's not like they're Austin Peay! Just a thought, something was obviously a miss with the game, and I think Hurds antics were a bigger distraction than perceived and it cost us the game. Fast forward to now, and we have a bandwagon of "Butch won't get it done" folks.

Something has been off from the beginning. Don't know how much to blame on this or if this is an unfortunate product.

I actually agree with you-- SC game was almost like the Vandy game we lost when everyone and the players knew Dooley was gone....

What's the story on Ole Miss and their fans this season? They are staring down a 6-6 season after slowly building the W/L record under Freeze. And that's with the best QB in the SEC on their team. Is there any discontent in that fanbase right now?

I have seen others say this and then I see people respond saying "no" not him. So I would love to hear from you guys about this guy. Who thinks he would be a good fit and those who don't and why?

He'd be a great hire for OC. But you'd have to be OK taking a beating in the media for a while (UT, which has had its own Title IX issues, hires a staff member who, by most accounts, willfully disregarded serious crimes committed by his players).

Does Tennessee's president care about our football program? Because Vol Colonel said Pamela Whitten from UGA is on campus now and is one of three candidates!!! God I wanted Noland even though it would take him from ETSU. That would have been a slam dunk choice.

Yea see that is why I was curious about this because of the past problems and if we could even handle a hire like that right now.

Pretty sure Noland has removed his name from consideration.

It's been talked about some, but I don't think it's gotten near enough focus outside of the A&M game--turnovers. Dobbs has been a turnover machine this year, and the rest of the ball carriers haven't been great either.

Dobbs has had a fumble problem since he's been here, but his interceptions are way up from any of his previous years. It seems like he's pressing more than he's able to handle.

It's not just him. Kamara's put it down plenty. Even Berry and Sutton on returns have had fumbles. The team has also been mistake prone and penalty happy, but the turnovers are pretty easy to avoid in many of these cases.

Take away the three turnovers by Dobbs, and Carolina has 14 less points (14 points off turnovers). Carolina had no fumbles and no interceptions.

1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.

UT leads the nation in TOs and Dobbs is the most TO-prone QB in the SEC with 11 INTs. Sloppy, undisciplined, penalty-prone with poor ball security-- and it's been like that all season.

Had to make a quick over night trip last night so before I go catch up on all the posts, just wanted to congratulate Drvinner and all the Cubs fans on here for the WS championship! Can only imagine the feeling they must have enjoyed after so many years of anguish.

So, hope you enjoy, and this is coming from a die-hard Cardinal fan..

It sure has LA. Inexcusable especially for a Senior.

NCAA breathing down their back???

NCAA cloud doesn't help. Their biggest issue is depth and secondary. Lost a lot of guys to pros then lost key secondary guys in game 1 and I think preseason. Offense is just fine.

And that's sort of what I'm driving at. A lot of the problems are scattered around the team, but interceptions is almost exclusively a Dobbs problem (a couple of them were ricochets). Despite his inaccuracy in past years, he was still very careful throwing it. Not so this year.

Did the offensive coaches ask him to take more risks thinking the defense would cover up mistakes? Maybe early, but that wouldn't fit as injuries mounted.

Was he pressing, trying to get the seemingly anemic offense going? Perhaps, but it's had problems in past years, and he didn't commit so many turnovers.

I wonder what he'd say about it.

Not trying to be sexist especially in today's climate, but would anyone else be concerned about a woman possibly being named Chancellor? It concerned me when I read the Provost from GA being considered. I wish they had never made this change in the first place and football was still under the president. That's when things seemed to take a fall very quickly.

No, and being "concerned" over that would be sexist.

I don't see that it matters. A man or a woman can be pro- or anti- football. There are plenty of female football fans out there, and even more who can see the benefit of a cash and PR cow on their campus (when used appropriately).

About 22 months ago half the fan base wanted to see Z get the OC job because they were so scared we would lose such a valuable coach.

Isn't it amazing how that happens? In that same year, I believe, people on here were upset because Dooley blew a red-shirt year on Worley when Bray was hurt. After a couple of games in 2014 I remember certain posters stating if Dooley hadn't blown that, Worley would have another year. Worley gets hurt because of the OL and Dobbs comes on and now most talk about Worley like he is the worst QB to come along in Vol history..
