Recruiting Forum Football Talk XXIX

I get it Bruin. He just said it's pretty divided and I thought that was telling. He also was the one who shared with this board about the meeting last year after Arkansas and all the Crowder punching rumors. Some on here were even speculating Butch would be fired at that time if you remember. So it's not like he's clueless. I just care about this team, like we all do and appreciate any info as to what the hell is going on.

I didn't mean to come across of attaching you so if that was he case I apologize.

The point I am making is there isn't one football program in the country that doesn't have players they love their HC and players that don't. It's the fact of athletics these days.

Both were elimination games. And the drama was unreal in game 6. Multiple times we were down to our last out.

Plus I was there so it was better

I guess agree to disagree. I am not a Cubs fan but I'm not surprised this is your response being a Cardinals fan ;)

Jones on Nashville radio tonight said Saturday was unacceptable and he takes full responsibility.

He said something similar in his Monday press conference. "It starts with me."

I honestly don't know what some people are looking for in these things. Are you hoping he goes up there and wallows in his guilt and inadequacies for 30 minutes?

He has to put on the front like nothing's wrong. We're in year 4 now. These are his players, this is his system. This is what he's selling to recruits. If he admits there are problems, opposing coaches will have relayed the quote to recruits before he finishes talking. So he spouts his cliches, because they can't be used against him in any meaningful way.

At this point we don't know what he's actually thinking with regards to scheme and coaching changes. And we won't until he gets rid of somebody. I kind of think that's how it should be.

Nice post. Should be required reading.

There have been players who were fed up with Butch since his first year on campus. As he's added high caliber talent, that number has gone up each year.

It is what it is.

I'm genuinely curious about this statement. Do you know for a fact players were fed up? And if so, why? What was it that made them dislike the guy? If he's adding high caliber talent, even with some kids disliking him and presumably telling recruits that, then how does that work? Also, I think the whole department over there was beat up and hated their jobs thanks to Dooley. So, I have always felt he had to rebuild the morale from the ground up, starting with the employees over there, then on to coaches around the state and southeast, and THEN get to the players and work on them. It took awhile and I thought we turned a corner last year.

If you have real examples I would appreciate it. Primarily, what is it they don't like? Or, is it just...I don't like that guy..he cusses....he lies...I'm not playing..etc.

Thanks

Also, if anyone else can chime in on this, I would love to hear both sides if possible.

yea i dont buy it either that half the team doesnt like Butch. recruits leave visits saying its like home, family. i think preston was outplayed and lost his starting job and he left. ego/ bad fit whatever. i think hurd maybe did struggle in this offense, some of us felt kamara shouldve gotten more touches as well as kelly. a&m, no hurd, kamara goes for 300 all purpose and danielson says he thinks kamara is the best back in the sec. ffwd to s.car, no kamara and hurd starts, struggles as usual and kelly is successful and his ego finally gets the best of his decision making process. recruits and players love butch he is a players coach.

Because admitting fault with only words is such a cop out. It's easy to say "I accept responsibility" when there are literally 0 consequences for doing so and no one is going to force you to make changes, despite 8 weeks in a row of accepting responsibility for your team coming out flat.

What would you prefer for the pound of flesh you seek? Should we bring out some military officers and waterboard CBJ on Monday's following a loss? Whip him until he cries on camera? Make him return some of his salary?

Do you need him to open up a vein or something? Maybe stage a crucifixion like they do in the Phillipines? He either fixes this or he doesn't. Grousing about him using words to take responsibility will definitely speed up the process.

Butch's words mean nothing. Watch his actions.

Bajakian and Jancek both let go. One upgrade, one unimpressive, at best. He is going to change his staff, no matter how much he acts like nothing is wrong

So in the meantime just stay silent? I'm sure the regulars who complain about his injury reports will cotton to that. :)

You need new joke writers. That was pretty awful.

I'd like to see him make meaningful changes instead of claiming responsibility with words he obviously doesn't mean, evidenced by the fact that everything looks exactly the same.

It's like with kids, if they say they're sorry but keep doing the same thing over and over, it means they're not sorry, they just know they're supposed to say those words.

Jake left, he wasn't let go. Jancek allegedly had a side girl he was bringing around the team. The two most underperforming units (ol and WR) have had their coaches for 4 straight year. His actions say everything, he thinks every decision he's made was a good one, and will resist changing anything as long as possible. When he was forced to make a change with OC, he made sure the change was as minimal as possible by hiring a puppet.

Man, this sounds like you could be describing Fulmers biggest weakness.

The more I see, I think Butch and Fulmer are pretty similar.

Wasn't a joke. It was sarcasm. We aren't going to transform things over night. Players need to execute better. It is up to CBJ and the staff to make it happen. He's made it pretty far in his coaching career doing what he does. I doubt he's going to blow the thing up overnight because a couple of fans "don't think he is sorry enough."

Not sure what you are seeking. Jones is going to say what he says in pressers. I used to get mad at his words too but then I realized what an idiot I was being and also realized why he says what he says.

I have direct tv. I do the annual dance every year threatening to leave for free Sunday ticket. Now 9 weeks into the season and I live in Knoxville Tn I have yet to have to use the Sunday ticket to watch the Cowboys play. Even this Sunday against the Browns is the main game. Tell me again how we're not Americas team

OK. The Cowboys aren't America's team.

This. CBJ isn't going to stick his foot in his mouth. He also isn't going to say "I'm a man, I'm 40!!!".

Not sure what you all expect. If you don't like his coach speak, don't listen to the pressers.
