Evan Berry had a cut above his eye from a cleat and had to get stitches. Will be back this week. Abernathy day to day with a hamstring.

We are going to have to play smaller up front. Vickers will see a lot of time. Kongbo and Phillips will definitely play predominantly at DT on Saturday and moving forwards. 247 made a comment about Johnson the other day noting that "he clearly was not full speed." My main concern is the number of snaps those 3 guys will have to play at DT.

I think we will keep Barnett at DE until he breaks Reggie's sack record, and then he will unselfishly move down to DT for the rest of the year. He can play that position with his strength.

Assuming for the moment that a new OC is hired for next season, I believe it will be quite telling to see how the new AD approaches the situation.

If the AD is confident in CBJ and changes he potentially proposes, then I expect salary/guarantees for a new OC will not be an issue.

Otherwise...

If the scenario takes place, I think you are spot on. I'd be shocked if Debord isn't here next year though.

GFW,
Why are you no longer close as you were to the program with it being the middle of the season and the school year? When you have a player like Hurd and a divided locker room, it's never just the one player. I have been in this situation before. He has a posse of other players. 20-25 percent is not unusual BUT the majority won't fall on the sword for the ring leader and the team plays better once removed. Then things will be much better and the ring leader is forgotton. Hope you were not removed from your job in the AD because you were part of the posse. Regardless, you seem to have been influenced and probably close to the Hurd faction of the team. Anyone with common sense would know more than one player is part of the locker room issue. Hopefully the removal and some wins will fix it. Mentioning intensity in practice implies some softness in this team which explains the piss poor execution. If you are not behind me as a coach then the coach in me would process you and I think we will see that attrition. If CBJ is going to have long term success here then he will have to keep kicking to the curb and better recruit and develop well to replace. He has to be the Sheriff and not a baby sitter kissing players .....

Come on man you can't just make stuff up and run with it...

I never was in a "high up" long term position in the AD, just the perfect spot to get some recruiting and miscellaneous info here and there, not dissimilar to a GA position. I simply enjoyed this website and liked providing some tidbits here and there as I heard it. Athletics was never a long term spot for me, and I don't work in athletics now.

As for Jalen Hurd, I've never been a big fan of the kid at all and am not surprised in the least by what has transpired. And no, I've never been a part of any "posse" of players, that's a ridiculous assumption.

I apologize for whomever's jimmies got in a rustle over me agreeing with De1. I wasn't speaking specifically on Hurd's concussion, more to some tidbits ive heard about an alarming amount of concussions in practice over the course of his tenure.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion even if it is unpopular but I can tell you there are many even within the program who have become disenchanted w/ CBJ with how the season has unfurled. Yes much of that is due to bad luck but it's pretty obvious his stubbornness isn't doing much to help.

I might of jumped to emotional conclusions regarding "fahr butch", because I genuinely do think he can turn it around. But we as a fanbase deserve some accountability and honestly it's frustrating hearing the same coach speak as nauseam. Injuries & drama aside, you don't lose to USCe with two weeks prep.

As for VN, I really love this site and Freak and co. have done a great job with it. I'll keep reading but probably won't be doing much posting in the future. Even though this season hasn't turned out like we wanted, it sure is great to be a Vol.

For everyone complaining about attrition with the 2014 class, think about how many contributors/starters we already have in the 2015 class. And these guys are just in their 2nd year in the program:

Offense:
Kamara
Richmond
Jack Jones
Jauan Jennings
Dormady
Boulware
John Kelly
Hall

Defense:
KMac
Kyle Phillips
Tuttle
Kirkland Jr.
Abernathy
Sapp
Martin
Taylor
Picou
Griffin

ST:

Riley Lovingood

Haven't heard from yet:

Sheriron Jones
Butcher
Austin Smith
Vincent Perry

Hope you reconsider. Unless you're just tired of others expecting you to have your old connections. You have a respectable insight without them. :hi:

Darrell Miller transferred. Lovingood is our longsnapper and you must have missed when he downed Daniel's punt inside the 3...amazing play.

He could break it at DT but I'm not a fan of moving the best DE in America inside.

100% agree, but we are desperate for capable bodies at DT. We have others who are capable playing DE. We can always slide him back out on obvious passing downs.

Bringing it, as always. Thanks, again, for all of your contributions.

Well that was a lot more even keeled. I don't understand for the life of me however why anybody gives a crap about what Butch says to the public, or how he says it. And I don't need to know the true injury situation either. I don't bet on games. I'm pissed at Butch for losing to a crap lousy USC team, and my support of him has greatly diminished till he makes some changes in his staff and philosophy. But how he speaks publicly is not a reason to be pissed. That is a really dumb thing to get pissed about.

Well said. This forum needs more thoughtful input. Don't quit.

What's funny is the East has a chance to have more teams bowl eligible than the West

I agree, we don't deserve anything from Butch. Actions speak louder than words. But when the actions don't speak very loudly, you'd think at least he would back it up in press conferences instead of acknowledging a lack of focus and commitment, which is obvious.

I mean why even hold press conferences then? Use that time to prepare for your next opponent as it seems you could use that time

Yeah, I never understood why so many thought GFW was a high up in the AD. It was always pretty obvious he was in something akin to a student position which gave him access to players and other important people.
