And everyone will still moan.

If I told you preseason, the Vols beat FL and UGA, and make it to ATL, 90% of us would have taken it straight, no questions asked.

There's still 1/3 of our season and UF's season to watch play out. It's not like it's a certainty we will (or won't, for that matter) make it to Atlanta.

Gotta let things play out, but that doesn't mean we can't point out troubling things we've seen from this team and staff.

Some of our players (KMac being one of them) needed to be quicker and lighter.

We have a S&C problem, but I think it's more about the coach and his methods than Butch's ultimate goals. S&C is somewhere we need an upgrade, but some of our injuries have just been bad luck type things as well. The best S&C coach in the world can't do anything for an ankle that gets twisted and fallen on like DKJr's, Wiesman's concussion, Kamara getting late hit out of bounds, etc.

She's really worked up about this...I wouldn't expect her to listen until her Xanax kicks in. :sad:

I like to believe that but it seems no one is really talking about the glaring problem we have...and that is the d line. We have 3 starters gone from August. Who really is left? Who will step up? I don't see us winning out unless Johnson steps up or someone like Kongbo or Phillips slides in and can hold the middle.

We are going to have to play smaller up front. Vickers will see a lot of time. Kongbo and Phillips will definitely play predominantly at DT on Saturday and moving forwards. 247 made a comment about Johnson the other day noting that "he clearly was not full speed." My main concern is the number of snaps those 3 guys will have to play at DT.

We were praising S&C earlier in the year due to our strong second half performances. A lot of these injuries are either pre existing (JRM) or bad luck (Sutton, Kirkland) I just dont know how much S&C plays into it.

I'm not so sure. I thought Kmac was more disruptive when he weighed a little more.

Everyone agreed with the move Lawson should be let go, mostly because of... wait for it... preseason injuries. Maybe he chose the wrong guy to replace him, but speed is good for the system he wants to run. It's not like we're Austin Peay sized out there.

Lol...lose to one of the worst teams in the SEC, and they write about Butch and assistants missing out on bonuses! How about writing about how much they disappointed the fans on missing out getting to see our team in the SEC championship game for the first time in what seems like forever?! Who cares that Butch isn't going to get a bonus that equates to 2.5% of his salary, which is peanuts!

Tell me how you really feel!!!

This is VN where you don't need common sense to jump to wild conclusions. I seriously worry about some of these posters functioning in the real world sometimes. Lol

I didn't think KMac looked disruptive whatsoever last year. He was slow off the ball, but could eat up blocks.

He got better push at a lighter weight this year.

I haven't really studied it but last year, at times, he appeared to be more disruptive, more powerful. Better at making the runner bounce. This year he seemed easier to block. But, that's just what I've noticed. I just don't remember him being much of a factor prior to his injury. I was probably focused more on him last year, to be fair.

strength and conditioning had nothing to do with kamaras knee, cams ankle, kirklands ankle, obrien smoking devils lettuce, etc

No-but torn pecs can be tied to it. A lot of S&C programs eliminate wide-grip bench press because of these injuries. I'm not saying this is what caused his, but it is a thing.

Is Tennessee imploding, or are Vols fans getting unduly worked up over one bad loss? Mailbag. https://t.co/qxB22dvoFo

Good article. I agree, we might be in the worst division in p5 football, but having to play the #1 and 2 teams from the best division doesn't help.

This time in 2014, Dobbs was named National Player of the week.

Let's hope we keep that guy for the rest of the games and the SEC championship.

Hell just a few weeks ago Dobbs was in the Heisman race according to fox sports LOL

I'm over the loss and realizing there is still a ton of FB left this season. We only get 13 games a year (used to only get 12 before Butch) and I am going to continue to enjoy this season now that the drama has left.

I really think this is going to happen.

TN - 5-3
Uk - W (this will be viewed as a big win in the media and get us back in the top 20 of CFBPCR)
Missouri -W
@Vandy - W

KY 5-3
UGA - W
@TN - L

FL - 5-3
@Ark - L
SC - W (could lose this with Bentley at QB for CWM)
@LSU - L

Then a 5-3 TN team will give Auburn all they can handle in the SEC title game after they upset Bama and A&M loses to LSU.

I still believe in Derek Barnett, Cam Sutton, Alvin Kamara, Mr. Jennings, ect.

I think they regroup and finish VERY Strong.

This season is not lost VOLS!

I've been waiting on you to post in here! When the game was winding down last Saturday and it was looking like we'd actually lose the game, all I could think about was your foreboding post last week about how similar it felt to the week leading up to the 1992 SC game. Sitting on my couch, I literally whispered, "Damn you, EricVol!"

From a question later in the same article:

Hi Stewart. In the past there used to be a thing called "Clemsoning," where a promising team lost a game it had no business losing. At some point, I remember you mentioning it should be changed to "UCLAing." What do you think UCLA needs to do to break out of this rut and reach the elite level Clemson has the last few years? Or do you think that is not a realistic possibility for UCLA?

-- Garret, Sacramento, California

Maybe we should rename it Tennessee-ing.

Ouch!

Butch said defenses are continually playing us in a Cover 1 and challenging us to beat them on the perimeter. Up to us to turn a 7 yard drag into a 70 yard touchdown to get them out of it.

This isn't the end of the road for Butch, but like others have said it's a crossroad - and one of those roads leads to a dead end if he continues to be stubborn.

That is good to hear, with Barnett, JRM, and Dobbs being gone next year it is time for the young guys to step up.
