I think part of my problem is this election. I am so sick of fake liars and I feel it's obvious that our head coach is not only a robot, but sketchy on the truth, too.

That Monday press conference was beyond annoying. Not to mention, the players he says will be back and on game day you see them out on gurney in a full cast on the sidelines.

Yeah, pretty much everyone agrees Butch is as strong as his staff. He needs to surround himself with top coaches to go forward

Exactly. Bruin's statement was just so he could get a jab in on CJ. Its not like that hasn't been said a hundred times already. Could CJ handled things better? probably. But couldn't we all say that about how we have handled our own difficult situations. Easy to make judgement on others sitting on the outside and not in the middle of it. Not taking up for Cj but got to give him credit for not trashing Hurd at the press conference. And for the record, because I know whats coming, I am with those that believe CJ has got to hire and OC and let him run the O. Just like Shoop does the D.

Football is played with an oblong, pigskin covered object.
Recruiting is a dirty business that is not for the faint at heart.
Tennessee Tech will lose by some unknown quantity of points, depending upon which TN team shows up.

I'm game. Let's say for argument's sake we win out, Florida drops 2 games, and then we lose a close game to any team from the west in the SECCG. How do we feel about the season?

I guess my ass is still chapped. I was calming down, but I keep reading about this Hurd situation and there is so much misinformation out there, I can't keep straight even what is rumored. I just wish Coach Jones would take ownership of this TEAM, hold himself and his staff accountable, say it was a terrible loss, but we are going to do whatever it takes to fix it. This tap-dancing "we've still got a lot to play for," BS just really yanks my chain. I am pro-responsibility. He is being paid $4 million a year and his assistants are making great money also, so it is time for them to sack up, fix what's wrong, or gtfo. I am not saying I am done, but I am saying that I've had it with the coachspeak. Sack up, Butch. Now.

Since the season is basically in the $#itter, a consolation option that wouldnt totally hurt my feelings would be getting Penn St in the Citrus.

There still is a lot to play for. Losing one of these last 4 games is not acceptable. Going 10-3 is still a step in the right direction in terms of perception.

Yeah, but being able to do ornate all yourself and teach young men to do it and execute well are different beasts.


I'm not doubting his ability to read a defense and find weaknesses. We all know he can do that. But he won't be on the field.

Can someone please update me on what the deal is with Hurd's mom? The last that I read was that she made a very respectful post on FB or somewhere thanking Tennessee and the fans for their support while Jalen was here. I have seen now, today , that something happened regarding his mom? I read that she had been arrested at the UF game. Is there anything else that is out there? Sorry, but work has been crazy and I am spending my spare time in the evening watching the World Series. TIA.

It's been discussed. And, in my opinion, the bigger issue is Butch's handling of the situation.

Well, I wish I had a come back on this but seeing that Dobbs attending a few of his camps and hasn't helped him much I am going for a plea bargain. lol Like I said before, I just would love to see his football mind being used and I do know the likely hood of that happening here is pretty much none.

Comparing Peyton Manning to Jim Harbaugh from a coaching standpoint is not apples to apples. Harbaugh always wanted to be a coach. His dad was a coach. His brother is a coach. His brother-in-law is a basketball coach. Coaching is in his blood. In fact, he got certified by the NCAA as an assistant in 1994 and worked under his dad at Western Kentucky for the final 8 years of his NFL career as an assistant doing film scouting and recruiting. He became a QB coach for the Raiders as soon as he retired from the NFL.

I have no doubt that Peyton would be a great coach if he wanted to coach, but you have to actually want to do it. So far, Peyton hasn't expressed much interest at all in getting into coaching (except a half joking comment that he would be a QB coach).

Not without its failings but, aside from a terrible SC loss, the Hurd BS, an inept offense capable of so much more and more injuries than I can ever recall in one season...successful.

If we can salvage the rest of the season and make it to ATL, I'm ok...just didn't live up to expectations.

last saturday’s loss at south carolina could prove quite costly to tennessee in terms of both its postseason bowl possibilities and likewise for the assistant coaches and head coach butch jones from a bonus standpoint.

If tennessee does not reach atlanta for the sec championship game, the loss to the gamecocks could also cause jones to miss a $100,000 bonus for reaching atlanta --- or a $150,000 bonus if the vols happened to win the sec championship.

david blackburn is considered 'on the radar' at mississippi state as the school seeks to find a new athletics director, but the odds-on favorite there has remained bulldogs' baseball coach john cohen. And based on our continued talks with folks here, blackburn has remained the frontrunner to land the job as dave hart's replacement at tennessee.

I do agree that there is still a lot to play for. But, my problem is that we had a great opportunity slip away and all Butch said was that it was just another game.
