You are absolutely right about one thing, this is on Jalen not his uncle. His uncle just contributed to the dumpster fire and in my opinion all but guaranteed he's undrafted now.

Some are saying this is a trend with Hurd going back to high school. Howard referenced it this morning. Hurd seems to be more of the one hurting his own draft status.

I'm with wickman, his alleged uncle posting about his alleged plans on a message board has 0 affect on his draft status. NFL GMs are going to ask Butch and other coaches and teammates and ex girlfriends what happened, and whatever his alleged uncle says on here carries 0 weight.

I agree that he has no one but to blame but himself but now he can't even twist sitting out for a different reason. It diminished the way he can sell himself to not only the nfl but jobs outside of that. Without it being made public, he had the bridges in the community. He doesn't have as many anymore.

This also pisses me off that much more that Butch didn't focus more on Kamara's talent. Now he's hurt and probably leaving for the draft. The A&M game showed what might have been but coaches decided to coddle Hurd instead. I hate to say it because I hate Saban, but he would have never done something like that. Until we get a head coach with the balls to make those decisions, we will continue to see things like this. Hurd was our feature back, in marketing materials and billboards while Kamara and Kelly had to take a backseat. And all the while, they were the better players in this offense.

The blame belongs to butch more so than Hurd. It isn't Hurd's fault they didn't use him properly. What's hard for me to believe is Butch was so stubborn to keep pushing Hurd out there and ultimately holding the offense back. Anyone can see the differences in our O when the 2 K's are in. I hate it for Hurd but our O will be greatly improved without him.

Brent Grimes has been blacklisted by numerous NFL GM's because his wife airs her grievances on Twitter all the time.

If you think it won't have any bearing on his draft status, you're kidding yourself. How much and with who is debatable but, it will...with some NFL teams, maybe not all.

It was more than that. He's posted for more than a year how coaches lied to Hurd and how he's unhappy with the play calling. He's contributed to the very (no pun intended) volatile moment we have right now. If none of this had been exposed and Jalen transferred mid season, we would be pissed at Butch.

Message board accounts and confirmed Twitter accounts are very very different things.

I sat here concerned when coaches bailed on Dooley and I tried to make excuses for it. From the things some have said close to the program it's concerning for the longevity of Jones tenure. There is no sugar coating that we're in a tailspin currently

There is no doubt that Hurd is looking after Hurd and not the team now. He is an immature diva as was Wharton before him. Not the path I would have chosen. Yet...

Consider if he was you. You are promised the offense will feature you to get you to commit. You know that if you go to UT other talented guys will join you and something special can happen. You are promised multiple times they will make adjustments as necessary to help you and the team succeed. All of the promises are made by Butch. Butch then accommodates in the Outback Bowl finally and the team responds with a blow out. Now the coaches are back to the beginning and worse than ever with a HS running game and no modifications in the O as promised to you. The clock is ticking on your career and your NFL future is at stake.

Every poster on here after the USCe game said the same negative thing - it's the offense. Nearly every poster on here loved the changes they made at the Outback Bowl.

What many are missing is my point that Butch did not do what was necessary to help the team succeed. When Butch keeps doing it the same way and getting negative results with highly talented players he is messing with their futures as well as his and the coaches. In helping the team succeed, you help the individual players succeed by taking advantage of what they do best. It is a two way street. Any RB running in a better designed and play called offense would do better than this. Kamara, Kelly, CFA - any of them. It is the offense - it is offensive. Yes, Kelly and Kamara have looked better in it - that's a relative statement. So what, the team has still lost 3 in a row and the last one to a HS QB and bottom feeder team that only gave up 14 points to Butch's offense. Two weeks of planning and rest did that after being brutalized by Bama. The truth is Team 120 used up every bit of its luck in that 5-0 start. It could have easily lost a couple of those. As it stands an 8-9 win season is probably all that's in the cards.

But now his "uncle" is getting national coverage on Twitter because of his rants.

How you see it and how NFL front offices may be very different but completely discounting its impact is underestimating the impact that social media, including unverified message board accounts, has in today's NFL.
