I wonder if Hurd's drama has contributed somewhat to Dobbs horrible play in the last few games? He was especially bad Saturday and while he should be able to focus and play better no matter the distraction, I always saw him and Jalen as close, especially a couple of years ago. On a different note, LWS is saying we have poor coaching and poor development that's the truth. And he said Butch still believes in his offense and he sees no major changes in that even if a new OC is brought in.

Odd seeing people call Hurd selfish. He's not being used correctly. EVERYONE sees it. So he makes a decision to find a better fit elsewhere and it makes him selfish. He should just tread water in an offense coached by guys who don't seem to know how to utilize the talent while the fans say he should stay because we need depth at RB, as his draft stock plummets. Who is selfish? LOL

Quitting on his team mid-season is what is selfish.

Finish the year, and hire a TE coach to prepare for the combine.

Go and tell scouts you want to try TE. They absolutely would have loved the idea, and taken him there.

Nope. Gonna just bounce

This is my criticism of him. Or at least wait till the end of the year and transfer to another school then. Quitting mid-season is 1) betraying your teammates and 2) making you look so bad to your future employers.

It's a shame and really disappointing to see a guy as important as Hurd walk away from this program, but recognize that you don't know every detail of the situation. With a coaching staff who controls the flow of information as tightly as this one, you better believe you don't know the whole story and that this isn't all Hurd. Screwy things like this have been happening behind the scenes since Jones got here, and I never thought it'd come to this, but this is a clear trend, so reserve judgement on a kid who took a beating here and probably dealt with a lot of BS that you don't know about.

Butch has lost mind and control of this team.

Ya, all of us should be reserving judgment of Hurd and butch (in this one instance) until/unless we get more info. It reminds me of Helm leaving and everyone ripping him because of 1 internet rumor that said he didn't like how much the coaches cuss. No one ever confirmed it, but it became gospel truth of the reason for his leaving.

Hurd isn't an isolated incident is what scares me. We lose 2-3 from our 2 deep every year it seems. These are guys who are playing regularly. That doesn't happen at other programs.

Your kidding yourself if you don't think this happens at other schools. And its his choice to quit on his teammates in mid-season.

Alright I'll say it Hurd leaving is going to make the offense look better. Butch has no choice but to give Kamara and Kelly touches now.

Butch giving Kamara 5 touches a game these last two seasons is one of the worst coaching decisions I have seen here at Tennessee.

It also shows his true colors and makes the statements LWS said about his sideline incident at UGA game more believable. It also makes it more believable that he held the coaches hostage last spring demanding scheme changes while he was on pace to break the all time UT rushing record.

The guy is selfish and I seriously doubt he will transfer. I predict he will enter the draft after he hires some trainer to work with him in the mid state.

No GM will put up with this crap. NFL players are an investment. He quit this team what's to say he doesn't quit again?

The quitting contributed, along with other things, of not being drafted. His uncle on a VN message board would carry no weight.

Does anyone else think Hurd's uncle is starting this because he's mad Hurd won't get the NFL payday his uncle thought he would and since Hurd won't get that payday his uncle won't get a cut?

Eh, maybe, and he will have to deal with that stigma and the consequences for awhile.

But the point of playing football for his level of college athlete (get your degree, blah blah blah), is to get to the NFL. There's no way of knowing that he was advised that he wouldn't have a place as an RB in the NFL, but I suspect it happened. Him moving on isn't really that much different from a regular student changing schools because they decided they didn't want to be an accountant, or engineer anymore, and wanted a better fit.
