Even Butch said post game some players were disinterested at times. Wow I thought that was eye opening when I read that in the transcript and it clearly shows but that's on him as head coach. And what has suddenly caused this because last year the players looked like they would run through a brick wall for Butch.
In his presser, CBJ tried to make it sound like there's a lot left to play for... but that's not really true. After two FL bowls, a mid-tier bowl-- or worse-- is a big step backward, especially when the team started the season as a Top 10 playoff contender.
Not excusing any lackadaisical play or negative attitudes, but I could definitely see the last month having a really detrimental effect on this team. You go from 2 emotional wins, and thinking playoffs, to ending up out of the hunt, beaten physically and emotionally, and half the team out with injuries. Most of the senior leaders aren't even on the field.
If Cam comes back after TTU, maybe that will give this team the shot they need to finish out strong.
We still have a reasonable chance to get to Atlanta. I mean, I doubt it happens, but that's what you have to sell if you're Butch. It's not that far outside the realm of possibility that Florida takes 2 SEC losses.
That's gonna be a really tough sell. Not only does UF have to lose to a beat-up Arky team and at night in Tiger Stadium, but the Vols have to win out with a QB who's having a crisis of confidence and a demoralized team that hasn't played inspired FB all season. Not impossible... but not likely.
Sadly, Butch ain't getting fired. Next year WILL be his last though if he keeps these 3 bozos on staff... Debord, Mahoney, Azzani. His loyalty to the latter 2 and his outright negligence in hiring Debord is just mind boggling.
