The lack of understanding about cannabis from the folks that live in the state of Tennessee is staggering. you guys are not getting the education because the state is so strict in it's substance laws. Cannabis is habituating, it is not addictive. You can kick it if you go a few weeks without, and yes that can be difficult, but no worse than anything else in life, and certainly easier than kicking alcohol. You're mind makes it's own cannabinoids, just like the stuff in cannabis. When you artificially introduce these cannabinoids into your system on a regular basis your brain goes "wait a second, we have too much of this stuff" and it shuts down production. When you quit smoking your brain is no longer making these cannabinoids and you feel like you are going without. Cannabinoids are chemicals that relax you and control stress so you get agitated and angry easily for a few weeks. After that you're brain goes "wait a second, we don't have enough of this stuff" and begins production again. Then you no longer feel the physical need for cannabis.
In addiction your brain is altered and unable to repair itself. You then have a brain disease that needs help beyond what you are able to control. You spiral out of control.
and now you know.
A few tried explaining this but its the green thumbs vs the get off my green lawn crowd up in here ruining a thread about a player we all care about.
Nobody gives crap, dummy. By the by, Colorado isn't the only place that grows pot. Plenty of it in every state. I've seen the harm that sex, gambling, alcohol, food, tobacco, talking on cells while driving, playing with guns, steroids, prescription drugs, and a ton of other stuff can do but I won't get on a freaking soapbox on it like you. You've turned a thread about Danny's dismissal into a freaking weed debate because you like proselytizing. You've made your opinion well known by now, so STFU.
If a patient comes in after an injury and has altered mental status, neuro changes, abnormal vital signs, etc, a tox screen could be indicated to rule out other causes for such findings. Very common test in trauma cases.
For anyone interested
There are several consent forms signed for the release of private info in arrangement of playing for universities.
The info may not be made public but there is a lengthy list to which your records (tests etc) are made known.
Hipaa is not loophole free for the sharing of records among the university and partners.
this is just the AD version but there is also NCAA and "related" to University medical (insurance co.mpanies etc.)
I should have just quoted 34, would have been quicker.
Hipaa doesn't apply to the University once you sign the consents, but applies to the public.
These are the consequences. Doesn't say anything about being blood tested while in the hospital without consent. He failed a urine test either before the game or today. I would put $$ on it. You sign the same thing when you are employed and are put in a drug pool.
It sucks and Tennessee could def use him in the trenches but its all on him. He had his free pass and chose to go to the well one more time.
Urine test is very likely.
My point was, they give consent to be tested at any time and the information can be shared with everyone on listed onthe consent form.
It's kinda irrelevant to which way they tested in or when, just that they had the right to and share the information amongst anyone listed.
Players are not being kicked from the team for drinking alcohol despite its long term effects, so personal responsibility is apparently not the issue either lol
