2016-2017 Vols

You said yourself you saw him somewhere between a 3* & 4* level player, so is that not admitting he wasn't/isn't a 5* player, and thus overrated? I'm not putting words in your mouth, but rather drawing a logical conclusion based off of something you said yourself.

Hey chris, you should know that logic is not allowed nor understood here on VN. lol

Yes, after his freshman season I placed Hubbs at a 3 1/2* rating. Not before or during the season though. I was expecting that 5* talent to supposedly come out like many of our fans were expecting. It's still like that 3 years later. We're still expecting a breakout year for him.

I think Barnes is the right coach for him but it seems Hubbs didn't think so towards the end of last season. They weren't seeing eye to eye.

Hubbs figured it out though & played pretty decent the last few games of last season including the SEC tourney.

Let's hope there's no more disagreements between the two & Hubbs can shine for 2016. Thanks!

Fair enough. Like I said though, the warning signs were there that he may not have the same kind of immediate impact of a Tobias Harris, for instance. Injuries and coaching changes hurt him, but his rating was based solely on assumed potential and development, both things he has yet to show on a consistent basis.

Fans, in general, have to be cautious about blindly trusting the star system because it has its warts for sure. It creates unrealistic expectations for players who were overrated to begin with. Hubbs is a perfect example.

I agree with this post but we still need Hubbs to be the absolute best player he can be to take us to higher places in 2016. I think he can do it but he's gonna have to show some motivation & aggressiveness for it to get done.

Disagree with my opinion or not, Hubbs still should be our best player even though he's not lived up to 5* status. Turner is probably the closest thing to him.

Mostella was a 4* recruit & at times has shown that status but it's been inconsistency with him. The rest of the bunch can just step in & play their roles/game & we'll be fine in 2016 but Hubbs is absolutely no doubt the key. Turner could also prove to be important as our main PG.

I think the Basketvols go 16-13 and 10-8 in the SEC

If you are gonna think big, why not 33-4 and 15-3 in the SEC? Also, 2 consensus All Americans. And, Coach of the Century! The 4th loss will come in the SECT, cuz lets face it, Barnes can't win conference tournaments. I take that back; he won at Providence in his last year there.

What's killing me is that Barnes can coach and develop but struggling to recruit regardless about the news we not sure is truuu that stokes is coming. We still struggling till he commits

Stokes is no guarantee for sure. It's probably down to Iowa State, UT, & still UNC for him but UNC is looking less likely after some of their big men signings. So, more than likely between us & Iowa State.

If he takes an OV to Ames in January TN will be a lock.

I'm still high on Barnes just not hearing very much was hurting the fans. Us fans are to involve into tennessee to not hear anything esp bad news of recruits making visits or visiting and they land somewhere else and not hear many names popping up. Like when 2 of our 4 prospect committed somewhere else we should have heard 10 new names pop up. The news I have been hearing about Barnes besides since practice has started Is that he Tryna help get one of his guys in for the ad spot I think and not many ppl local is talking about tennessee basketball.

Yeah I seen that. And he was a back up choice. They already should have given out like 25 new offers

Bone, Mostella, Hubbs, Schofield, Evans will start against Chattanooga (that's the first game for inquiring minds).

This is why you annoy people, you try to say things definitively such as above...you could've easily said in my opinion I think and then said it, instead you try to pass it as a fact.

In my opinion there is little chance Evans is starting day 1, I could see the other 4 as starters though. I personally will say Turner, Mostella, Hubbs, Schofield, Williams.
