Bad tailgating experience, need help identifying fraternity.

I really fail to see what blaring profane lyrics has to do with SEC football.

Common decency is a significant portion of common sense. Ignorance on your part, I suppose.

I really fail to see why you're so worried about words? Are you not a good enough parent to teach your kids right from wrong? Again, don't tailgate next to a frat with kids if you want it to be appropriate. I can't believe you ever thought that was a good idea.

My experience is if you go ask them to tone it back do to small kids they do. I've done it and had success both times. I told them "hey guys, I know y'all are pumped for the game and party and I don't wanna take any fun away from you. But we have some young kids over here so do you mind toning it back just a little?"
Worked both times and they apologized and all was good. In fact the 2nd time they turned it all the way off so I took some beer over and told them to have fun and play music just not quite as loud towaards the kids.
The fact is they're young and make dumb choices at times.
It's amazing how well things can turn out when people communicate their problems in a civilized manner to one another.

typical response from someone of an older generation towards someone of a younger generation who makes a decent point.

Not buying it.. I was college age once too but it wasn't used as an excuse to be an ASS...

When a university opens up the coffers and starts funneling in the money out of the fans' pockets, then they at least owe the fans the opportunity to bring their families onto campus without their children hearing graphic vulgar music.

How exactly can that be enforced though? Campus and KPD rightly have way bigger fish to fry on game days than making kids shut off dirty music.

I get that parents don't want young children exposed to explicit content, but safety and security is a much bigger priority on game days. Ensuring the health and well being of the 100,000+ people on campus will always trump complaints about vulgarity.

When you determine the frat contact the frat grand fubar or whatever they are these days. If he doesn't respond with concern then there is bound to be an on campus council overseeing frats. I believe fully in freedom of speech and don't usually care what kind of music is playing around me but it sounds like it was intentional and uncaring. Just because you have a right to do something doesn't mean you should.

Typical juvenile Millennial reply! Nobody matters but you, right kid??

That said, stupid kids are going to be stupid kids. Expecting maturity, decency, and respect for others from a bunch of frat kids is probably asking too much these days. Obviously they are free to do as they please which includes playing terrible music, but some negative press is also well-warranted! If you find out who and which house it is, please let us all know.
I can't speak for every millenial but 99% wouldn't act like that. I'm sure there were plenty of guys in the house that didn't approve but weren't heard because of the fraternity pack mentality. If one of them does it, somehow it's ok.

and no one forced them to have their tail gate right next to an existing frat house. It's a give and take society, you setup right next to a bunch of drunk college kids and you are bound to see/hear things 10 year old kids shouldn't see/hear.

complaining about it on a message board will totally fix the situation, though.

The only thing I would point out is that this "frat" lost the argument if, in fact, they had speakers on the 2nd floor facing out toward the street. You can't just blast whatever you want into public space and claim "Well, we were here first, bro." If that wasn't the case and the windows were just open or something like that, then other than having crap taste in music, they weren't really in the wrong.

Overall though, I'm not sure why its so hard for some people to just take a tiny bit of responsibility. I graduated from UT less than 10 years ago, and plenty of times I would see Greeks tell other members "Hey, knock it off moron, there's kids over there..." or something like that when people would get out of hand. Considering for half a second how your actions affect others shouldn't be so foreign. I get the sense some people are the type to fart in a crowded elevator and just laugh.

well that is what is wrong with society. There is no respect for children, church people, ladies etc. I understand it is college and a campus or whatever but even before marriage and children I would have respected who could hear the music. There are things you could choose to listen to with less porno involved. But sadly that is the society we live in. Where there is no respect and everyone thinks they are entitled to do whatever they wish regardless who it affects.

Don't they have a family zone? I know they have had one the past few years. Seems like they have free games and such for the kids.

Just saw it's called Volunteer Village.

No you are 100% wrong. This game is absolutely different and if you don't believe so you must not have been a student here. So you're telling me a tailgate for Ohio and Florida are the same? You can't be this stupid can you?

As for the language, grow up its words.

Do you truly think this is the first time that song had ever been played at that house? If not then you're pay is useless

I went to UT, lived on frat row and tailgated for plenty of big games. The language in the op is misogynistic and violent. If you think that is at all appropriate for a college campus then I'm not sure you learned much in your time there

The fact is we live in a selfish world now. Everything is me me me, where as used to be people had a little respect for others. I was raised to respect others but that is lost these days and to think this behavior is ok just shows you we have a problem. We did beat FL tho.. GBO

To be honest I could tolerate some loud music and even profanity what I can't tolerate is 50% chance crack, heroin, some kind of illegal ,Opioids or like pain killers very addictive , the likelihood of that crap turning these kids into addicts is horrible. I know addicts, locked up now, that just can not kick it. Even in prison if they want it they can get it. It's a sad life. The probability of college years promoting or introducing that life style is 90%, that's any school.

People still have respect for each other. We just have better forms of communication to get word out about the a**holes.

There's ALWAYS been a**holes. We just get to hear about them all nowadays.

Typical younger generation moron. Go find a "safe spot" under your mommy's skirts.

couple of things:

1. im 33 with a family, and know not to complain on a message board when I could have done something about it in person if it was that big of a deal

2. my mother is dead, id give anything to see her and her skirts again, thanks for the reminder.

90% of college kids will become crack heads? You might need to check your stats

What when did I say that? I said it's Florida week and the tailgates will be bigger, music louder, everything is bigger Florida week. I'm not saying it's apporapriote in front of kids and I wouldn't have done it, but you have to have the common sense to not bring kids to a tailgate next to a frat house, especially on the biggest day in Knoxville in years.

Easy for a university to do. Email frat. No vulgar music, while we are gouging millions from these families to watch football.
