I should say that I think Dormady is A LOT closer to being the "real" 2nd string guy than Peterman was.

Glad Nate had a good year at Pitt.... but not unhappy with Jones' choice to start Dobbs.

I agree, Dormady is definitely further along. I am glad Nate had a good year at Pitt as well. wasn't Dormady pretty quick in the timed 40?

The only real surprises to me are Big Kahlil not starting, Kongbo and Lewis in 2 deep over Phillips, Dromady and Guarantano bracketed, Foreman and Gaulden being bracketed, and Williams and Jennings being bracketed. The others are no surprise after reading fall camp reports.

A lot of handwringing on here about depth at DT, but we've got a lot of talent at DE that can slide inside in a pinch or in certain situations. Depth at OT and LB are quite a bit more concerning to me, especially MLB.

I don't recall but it is hard to put much stock in reported 40 times. Everyone claims to run a 4.4. Unless they specifically say it is laser or GPS timed.... I pretty much ignore it.

To your point though, Dormady isn't slow.... he's no Bray or Clausen for sure.

Biggest suprises to me is Mckenzie not starting.

Tatum listed over Johnson as our backup LT.

I figured McDowell,Bates or Sapp would start over Bynum.

And Jeff George not listed out of all the WR's. He was a Juco and an early enrollee.

Hate to say it but Kahlil is looking like a bust. There is no excuse for him not beating out a mediocre talent like Danny O'Brien. Its not like the guys he's playing behind are gonna be high NFL draft picks. Both Vickers and O'Brien are fringe NFL players at best.

All in all I'm super disappointed in him.

I think Kahlil will be very good. O'Brien is a more than serviceable DT, he looked pretty good toward the end of last season.

IDK,
When Dooley got the axe, Bray got out of Knoxville pretty fast...

McKenzie will start once he gets his technique and pads down. Bynum is a seasoned LB . Tatum according to reports has had the best camp among the freshman. George is a red zone receiver at this point not sure he has put on enough muscle yet . he looks pretty thin.

LOL. Other guys from his class are not playing behind "serviceable DTs".

I will reiterate that the other 5 star defensive tackles from his class, Trent Thompson (Georgia), Terry Beckner Jr. (Missouri), Daylon Mack (Texas A&M) were already listed as starters LAST YEAR as true freshmen. They are all starting once again this year as sophomores.

Last year Kahlil didn't start and people made excuses for him. WHAT ARE THE EXCUSES NOW? 5 star recruits don't sit behind fringe players like Danny O'Brien as sophomores.

Lets hope this is another Butch Jones blunder. Cause we need Kahlil to be who the recruiting experts said he was if we want to be a championship team.

I don't see Trent Thompson (Georgia) listed as a backup. I don't see Terry Beckner (Missouri) listed as a backup. The other 5 star DTs from his class were already starting LAST YEAR. There is no way they would still be backups as SOPHOMORES.

A shocker for me was not Richmond starting at LT but a true freshman shown as his #2 behind him, that kid must be very good.

It is not a good sign. OT is our position with the least depth. If Kendrick or Richmond go down, we most likely will see Thomas move to tackle or even Jack Jones move outside. We really need Hall to heal quickly.

And Martin is starting over Moseley

Last year Jumper over Kirkland
McNiel over Kelly
Wanted to start Kendrick over Hall until Hall got injured.

You know how Butch is.

Abernathy is not going stay the start either.

Khalil has had a great off- season. O'Brien is the senior who has helped rebuild this program. And hes not that bad. Khalik will be more productive than him. He's not even close to being a bust.

Agreed...total 180 in talent...remember when we were hoping a Greg Clark or Darren Gooch would pan out?

Yep.... or that Montori Hughes would suddenly have the discipline and motivation to use his talent. There is plenty of blame to share with Dooley and Kiffin but Fulmer left a mess of a roster. The OL and DL were both depleted.

Pretty sure Shoop has autonomy on the D's depth chart. Doesn't really matter how Butch is...this is Shoop's call.

Lets hope you are right and this is Butch being stupid again. I just wish he would learn from his previous mistakes. This idea of going with experience just for experience's sake is dumb.

He cost us 2 games last year by starting Jumper over Kirkland. Lets hope his dumb personnel decisions don't cost us anymore games.
